MCU Rumor Says Wolverine Isn’t in The X-Men Reboot For Wild Reason

MCU Rumor Says Wolverine Isn't in The X-Men Reboot For Wild Reason

As a film enthusiast with over three decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that the recent news about Hugh Jackman and the X-Men in the MCU has me utterly thrilled! Having grown up watching the original X-Men films and being a huge fan of Wolverine since the 90s animated series, this development is nothing short of a dream come true.

In the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the X-Men team of mutant superheroes is anticipated to make their appearance following the next two Avengers movies. However, it’s possible that this introduction won’t feature the traditional face of the franchise. A recent rumor suggests that Marvel Studios might not debut Wolverine in their X-Men adaptation, instead focusing on the team without him. Following his roles in Deadpool and Wolverine, Hugh Jackman is said to be set to continue portraying Wolverine beyond Avengers: Secret Wars, a film where he’s expected to reprise his role.

Based on information from industry insider Daniel Richtman, it appears that Marvel Studios is considering introducing the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after the current phase, but without Wolverine being a central character. Instead, the rumored plan for the MCU’s X-Men reboot seems to be modeling their mutant team along the lines of the popular “X-Men 97” animated series. Hugh Jackman might continue playing Wolverine until after the “Secret Wars,” but not as a main focus in this new phase. Previously, Kevin Feige hinted that they would introduce lesser-known X-Men characters into popular culture, so focusing less on Wolverine seems to fit with that approach, according to Richtman’s Patreon post.

The remaining team shares characteristics with the 1997 version of the X-Men cartoon, yet it has its own unique elements. However, unlike in that series, we don’t have Wolverine at present because Hugh Jackman is still involved. It seems probable that he will continue to be part of the cast even after ‘Secret Wars’.

Deadpool & Wolverine May Have Just Changed the MCU For Good

In the thrilling conclusion of Deadpool and Wolverine, it appears Hugh Jackman will continue to embody the alternate universe version of Wolverine in future Avengers event movies. Given the title “Secret Wars” and its promise of bringing together a multitude of iconic Marvel characters and actors one last time, it seems like a strong contender for the next big ensemble. Unfortunately, it appears Jackman is the only former X-Men actor with significant whispers about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The long-running portrayal of Wolverine by Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine leaves quite an impression, as Deadpool himself jokingly predicted, “They’ll make him do this till he’s 90!

Even though Jackman wrapped up his tenure as Wolverine in James Mangold’s “Logan,” he would have been disappointed if he hadn’t returned for “Deadpool & Wolverine.” His affection for the character remains strong, and much like the indomitable Wolverine, age hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm for the role. It’s no surprise to hear that he might play Wolverine a few more times, especially following “Avengers: Secret Wars.

Instead of feeling upset, every fiber of my being yearned to act. I can’t express how devastated I would have been, perhaps to the point of tears, rage, and even considering ending our friendship. If the situation had occurred, I might have sought legal means to gain custody of his children as well.
