Bitmo Lab’s GameBaby Case Outfits the iPhone With a D-Pad Controller

As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless hours spent on my trusty GameBoy, the news of Bitmo Lab’s GameBaby case has me feeling like a kid in a candy store! I remember the joy of playing Pokémon Yellow or Tetris on the go, and this innovative iPhone case brings back those nostalgic feelings.

Bitmo Lab, a tech firm based in China, has created a cover that converts today’s iPhones into a handheld gaming device similar to the classic GameBoy, ideal for individuals yearning for the golden era of the Nintendo console.

Designed for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max, this case is named GameBaby. It serves dual purposes: as a modifier when needed and a standard protective cover at all times. When not in use, GameBaby can be attached to the back of the iPhone, providing protection should it fall, fulfilling the basic function of a phone case.

When it’s time to dive into a game, I’ve got my trusty GameBaby attached right up front, covering the bottom part of my screen. It comes equipped with a classic D-pad controller that pairs seamlessly with my phone. For some old-school gaming fun, I fire up a free, retro-style emulator and use the controller to play my favorite classic titles!

GameBaby functions independently without requiring Bluetooth connections or cables. It’s unique in that it doesn’t need charging either. However, the specific workings of this device are somewhat unclear at present. Bitmo Lab mentions on their website that the GameBaby is still under development and may undergo changes before its final design is revealed.

However, if you’re intrigued, you have the option to reserve a GameBaby at a price of $20 USD. The initial shipment is scheduled for delivery in October.
