Ford Officially Dubs the Mustang GTD Its Most Powerful Mustang Yet

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of virtual racing under my belt, I can confidently say that the all-new 2025 Mustang GTD is nothing short of a dream come true. Having spent countless hours behind the wheel of digital muscle cars, I’ve always yearned for a machine that could match their raw power and soulful roar in real life. The GTD seems to have finally bridged that gap.

The final performance specifications for the upcoming 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, the most potent production Mustang in Ford’s history, have been unveiled officially. This powerhouse delivers an impressive 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque from its supercharged 5.2L V8 engine, raising the bar for the legendary muscle car. With a top speed of 202 mph, it also holds the title of the fastest street-legal Mustang ever produced.

Aiming to accomplish a lap time under seven minutes at the Nürburgring, the GTD model boasts advanced active aerodynamics such as a Drag Reduction System that fine-tunes the rear wing and front flaps for ideal airflow balance between speed and downforce. Furthermore, it has carbon-ceramic brakes and an inboard-rear suspension with semi-active dampers to guarantee superior handling.

From the very start, our goal has been to design a supercar that offers top-tier performance and embodies the spirit of a Mustang. According to Greg Goodall, Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer, this is precisely what the GTD delivers, and its heart lies in its powerful 5.2-liter V8 engine, which outperforms the Porsche 911 GT3 RS when it comes to horsepower per liter.

The innovative dry-sump oil system enables the engine to perform exceptionally well during high-speed cornering and boosts its top speed to an impressive 7,650 rpm, that’s a 100 rpm improvement over earlier models. A more compact supercharger pulley, along with optimized intake and exhaust systems, including a standard titanium exhaust, significantly enhance the Mustang GTD‘s extraordinary power output.

The GTD model from Ford signifies their inaugural endeavor into a high-performance Mustang variant. Notably, it is anticipated to be the most costly Mustang ever produced for sale, with an estimated starting price of $325,000. Production numbers are expected to be limited, with around 1,000 units planned.
