As an ardent fan of the captivating world of Indian cinema, I have been utterly enthralled by the extraordinary journey of actors Patralekhaa and Vijay Varma, whose recent collaboration in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack has left me absolutely spellbound.
Actors Vijay Varma and Patralekhaa are currently rejoicing over the success of their latest series, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Recently, Patralekhaa opened up about her bond with co-star Vijay, reminiscing about their initial encounter. She expressed, “Vijay is a wonderful guy,” and emphasized that collaborating with him continually offers chances for education and personal development.
I recently shared some insights about my initial encounter with Vijay Varma in an interview with Filmygyan. To put it simply, we’ve known each other for a while now, going back to our first chance meeting during an audition where he was being considered for a movie role. Working alongside him turned out to be a delightful experience, and our paths crossed again when we both were part of a series titled Cheers, which can be found on YouTube. This particular project brought us together in Goa, where the friendship that now binds us truly took root.
Patralekhaa expressed that during her time in Goa, a friendship blossomed between us. She mentioned that Vijay is an exceptional individual and has remarkable artistic skills. In essence, she values the experiences they’ve shared through collaboration and admires his artistic talents.
Anubhav Sinha’s series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack has garnered praise and criticism since its release on August 29. Some viewers have criticized the show for supposedly distorting the hijacking’s background, a charge known as ‘whitewashing.’ In response to these concerns about inaccuracies, Netflix has decided to update the disclaimer, now including the real names of the hijackers. Notably, however, the code names used in the series correspond with those employed by the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen terrorists, as confirmed by a Home Ministry statement dated January 6, 2000.
The show, based on the 2000 book Flight Into Fear: The Captain’s Story by Captain Devi Sharan and journalist Srinjoy Chowdhury, narrates the happenings of December 24, 1999, when five terrorists seized control of an Indian Airlines plane only 40 minutes into its flight from Kathmandu to Delhi.
The eight-day long hijacking saw the captivity of 154 passengers and crew by terrorists, ultimately forcing the Indian government to comply with their requests. The compelling drama series, spanning six episodes, boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Vijay Varma, Patralekhaa, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajiv Thakur, Dia Mirza, and Amrita Puri.
