As someone who’s been wandering through the fashion wilderness for years, I can confidently say that Stone Island Ghost has always been my beacon of hope, guiding me towards innovative design and groundbreaking outerwear. The Fall/Winter 2024 “Ghost” collection is no exception; it’s as if they’ve taken the gorp-factor to new heights, with Philippe Starck leading the charge!
The Stone Island Ghost continues to serve as a refuge for some of Stone Island’s most groundbreaking designs, and their Fall/Winter 2024 “Ghost” collection is no different. Headlining the lineup is the Stone Island x New Balance 991v2 “Ghost”, unveiled this month. For the first time, Stone Island’s “Ghost” pieces are more reminiscent of outdoor gear than ever before, with renowned architect and designer Philippe Starck modeling them.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to note that this latest collection carries forward Stone Island’s narrative, “Community as a Form of Research,” seamlessly. The lineup focuses on monochromatic outerwear, particularly jackets, aligning perfectly with the essence and color palette of the New Balance 991v2 “Ghost.
Stone Island explains through an Instagram post that ‘Ghost pieces’ are designed around the idea of disguise, and they are entirely one color.
In the catalog, Starck models the star item of the collection, the 710F2 Performance Twill Wool-TC hooded parka. Even the Stone Island emblem is given a modern twist in a single tone shade. Made from Merino worsted wool twill fabric, the jacket includes a wind-resistant resin coating on its inside, filled with feathers and designed to endure the garment dyeing process. The hood is divided into two halves down the middle, while snap-closure pockets slant on the chest. Additional pockets can be found further down the design too, featuring a two-way zip fastening concealed beneath the placket to finish off the ensemble.
Additionally in the announcement, Stone Island presents several more tactical jackets, such as the Suede Sheepskin jacket, Heavy Melton jacket, and Twill Wool Down jacket. These jackets are modeled by actor Russell Tovey in the release.
