Shailene Woodley to Make Broadway Debut in ‘Cult of Love’ Play

As a theater enthusiast with a penchant for diverse casts and compelling narratives, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming Broadway play, “Cult of Love.” Shailene Woodley, Zachary Quinto, Barbie Ferreira, and the rest of the talented ensemble are set to bring Leslye Headland’s creation to life, marking their Broadway debuts in the process.

Actress Shailene Woodley has signed on for a role in the forthcoming Broadway production of “Cult of Love,” which is being developed by playwright Leslye Headland, known for her work on “The Acolyte.

She teams up with Zachary Quinto and Barbie Ferreira, best known for her role in Euphoria, in a production that revolves around four adult children from the Dahl family reuniting at their childhood home during Christmas, along with their partners. However, the peace is disrupted as they confront both past and present conflicts.

Actress Woodley, known for her role in “Big Little Lies” and currently gracing our screens in the Starz series “Three Women,” is set to make her Broadway debut, as is Headland. The play’s talented cast also includes Molly Bernard, Roberta Colindrez, Rebecca Henderson, Christopher Lowell, and Christopher Sears.

Apart from the Divergent movie franchise, Woodley has acted in films like The Fault in Our Stars, The Spectacular Now, and The Descendants. Bernard is primarily recognized for her role as Lauren Heller in Younger, and she has also been seen in Milkwater and the upcoming Best Man Dead Man. Colindrez’s notable roles include Cassandro, A League of Their Own, and Vida.

Ferreira shares screen time with Ariana DeBose in “House of Spoils” and “UNpregnant”, while Henderson is recognized for his roles in “Inventing Anna” and “Russian Doll”. Meanwhile, Lowell, who’s also debuting on Broadway, played the character James in this year’s stage production of “Cult of Love” at Berkeley Rep.

Lately, Quinto has been featured in two films: “Down Low” directed by Rightor Doyle and “He Went That Way,” both sharing screen time with Jacob Elordi. Additionally, Sears was part of the Berkeley Rep’s staging of “Cult of Love.

The upcoming Broadway play, produced by Second Stage Theater, is set to premiere at the Hayes Theater from November 20th, with an official opening night on December 12th. Notably, Trip Cullman, who has previously directed plays like “Choir Boy” and “Lobby Hero” on Broadway, will helm this production.

In the “Cult of Love,” scenic design is handled by John Lee Beatty, costumes are designed by Sophia Choi, lighting is designed by Heather Gilbert, and sound design is by Darron L West.
