Netflix Reveals ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Toph Actress, Begins Season 2 Production

As a die-hard fan who grew up watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the production of season two! The announcement of Miya Cech as Toph has sent a wave of excitement through the fandom. While she may be relatively new to the scene with credits like Beef and Bat Mitzvah under her belt, I have no doubt that she’ll bring the same charm and strength to the role that Katara, Sokka, and Aang did in the original series.

The second season of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” has begun filming, as confirmed by Netflix through a promotional video, also disclosing that the talented actress who will portray the much-anticipated character, earthbender Toph, has been selected.

In March, it was announced that Netflix’s live-action remake of the cherished Nickelodeon animated series, which premiered in February, had been greenlit for two additional seasons.

The narrative, similar to its animated counterpart, unfolds around Aang (Gordon Cormier), the young Avatar character, as he learns to control the four fundamental elements – water, earth, fire, and air – in an attempt to restore harmony to a world that’s being menaced by the Fire Nation. Kiawentiio portrays his friend Katara, while Ian Ousley embodies her brother Sokka.

In the upcoming second season, it’s been revealed that Miya Cech will portray the character of Toph, a skilled earthbender who becomes part of the team. A recently released video on Thursday doesn’t show her face, but suggests she possesses powerful earthbending abilities.

Credits of Cech in the past encompass an episode from the Emmy-winning series, ‘Beef’, and ‘Adam Sandler’s You Are Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah’.

In “The Last Airbender,” we find Daniel Dae Kim portraying Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee stepping into the role of General Iroh, Ken Leung playing Commander Zhao, Elizabeth Yu bringing Princess Azula to life, and Dallas Liu embodying Prince Zuko.

Prior to the show’s debut, Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ousley, and Liu expressed excitement to The Hollywood Reporter about their search for a suitable Toph character.

Kiawentiio finds that each new season of the animated show keeps improving,” she mentioned. “The introduction of a fresh character, Toph, really adds to the excitement for me.
