As a devoted fan, I’ve always been aware that there are numerous intricate components involved in ensuring a seamless live TV broadcast. Behind the scenes, folks are meticulously organizing commercial breaks, maintaining time constraints, filling seats in the audience, and preparing the crowd to be at their best for the show’s premiere on the 2024 schedule. However, I hadn’t fully grasped the extent of the judges’ behind-the-scenes efforts – that is, until Derek Hough unveiled the depth of his work on Dancing With The Stars.
As a dedicated viewer of DWTS, I wasn’t surprised to find that judge Derek Hough is brimming with insights about the reality competition series. Yet, during the commercial breaks, he offered glimpses into the filming of the live ABC show that were nothing short of fascinating. In one such break, he shared a laugh and some playful banter with fellow judge Bruno Tonioli. During another moment between takes, he even managed to solve a Rubik’s cube! Check it out for yourself.
It appears to be quite impressive, but unfortunately, without video evidence, I must share my disappointment that Hough struggled with the solution and resorted to using a backup Rubik’s cube to give the impression of proficiency. I apologize for revealing this, friend.
Although some contenders have emerged in Season 33, my favorite moment could still be the spontaneous, energetic group singing of “Sweet Caroline” led by Alfonso Ribeiro and his sister Julianne Hough during a break from the live ABC series.
Regrettably, he didn’t reveal the “Sweet Caroline” instant outside his Stories (that vanished as this text was being written), but you can catch more of him preparing and gearing up for his first night in a fresh role on the long-standing competition by checking out the following TikTok.

It’s pleasing to observe Mr. Hough moving forward in his professional journey, as he was one of the most beloved professionals during his time on Dancing With The Stars, much like his renowned sister. After departing the show in 2016, he’s pursued various ventures, collaborating with popular ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White, acting in shows such as Nashville and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, touring extensively for new dance programs, and more.
Moving forward as a judge during Season 33 seems like a logical step in my journey, and I eagerly anticipate it being a long-lasting role. So far, I’m thoroughly enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the social content.
