As a seasoned gamer with a knack for exploring the vast digital landscapes of street culture, I found myself captivated by Tarpley, an emerging brand that has managed to carve out its unique niche amidst the crowded fashion scene. Born from a meditation in 2019, this label is more than just clothing; it’s an energy source designed to uplift and inspire those who wear it.

The Five W’s
Who is wearing Tarpley?
Artists, athletes, musicians, content creators, outdoorsmen—a diverse group of individuals.
What is Tarpley’s main message?
“Be a light unto yourself.”
When did you launch Tarpley?
In December 2022, I put together, designed, and published a lookbook showcasing a mini collection. Not long after, I received an invitation to attend Paris Fashion Week. While there, I established key contacts which subsequently landed me on the New York Fashion Week schedule, where I’ve been exhibiting consistently since then.
Where are people wearing Tarpley?
At various events such as concerts, art gallery openings, outdoor gatherings, coffee meetings, and rides in luxury Ubers worldwide.
Why was Tarpley created?
To make the world a better place by giving people an energy they’ve never felt before.
A large part of my style is influenced by internet memes…While it might not appear so, memes offer an endless source of inspiration for fashion.
About The Brand
What was the spark that catalyzed the creation of Tarpley?
In 2019, I experienced a profound contemplation that served as the foundation for my academic work. This reflection led me to the idea that clothing embodies energy. By focusing on producing premium, visually appealing designs, individuals can enhance their appearance, boost their self-confidence, and ultimately contribute to a more positive world.
When did fashion design become a passion for you—and an intended career path?
As I spun tunes while DJing, I noticed how attire influenced those in the crowd. Donning underground labels with clever styling sparked an allure that captivated me. How could a simple jacket or shirt generate such energy? At that moment, it became clear to me that I needed to delve into fashion design, and I’ve been on this creative journey ever since.
How would you define Tarpley’s style?
Sophisticated function.
What makes Tarpley stand out in today’s crowded fashion scene?
Instead of frequently revamping our design style drastically each season, we’re evolving a fresh new aesthetic by building upon previous work. This style is characterized as streamlined, refined, yet with a hint of grit and authenticity. I oppose the contemporary trend towards dystopian, bargain-basement designs that lack optimism. My aim is to instill a sense of cleanliness, strength, and readiness for whatever the world may bring—a look that embodies utopia and exudes positive vibes.
What role does memeology play in the label’s ethos?
In today’s vernacular, memes serve as a primary means of expression for my generation. Countless aspects of my appearance draw inspiration from popular memes. This year, I designed an exceptionally wide pair of business trousers in homage to the “if your boss is wearing these pants, you’ll survive the recession” meme. At first glance, memes might not appear fashion-forward, but they contain endless creative potential.
What style codes or eras inspire you?
The ’90s will always be my favorite. Anti-fashion minimalism is everything—Helmut Lang, Yohji, Prada, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein. That sleek sophistication with just enough edge inspires me.
What was the biggest challenge in building Tarpley?
Managing the brand in New York City, despite residing in Nashville. Although modern work allows flexibility in location, being distant from the hub of fashion and manufacturing creates obstacles. Yet, I am determined not to use distance as a reason for falling short.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since launching Tarpley?
In the here and now, it’s clear that attention is the new form of currency, not the work itself. Regardless of whether we find this fact encouraging or concerning, it’s a reality we’re navigating in the year 2024.
Why should people care about Tarpley?
Tarpley embodies “a fresh vitality in style.” It’s rooted in diversity and fueled by positivity, yet it finds comfort in the unknown. Its aim is to infuse a spiritual essence into clothing that transforms wearers into improved versions of themselves, all while making them look and feel fantastic. On a larger scale, this could introduce an unprecedented energy to both fashion and art cultures.
