Beetlejuice 3 With Tim Burton Gets Surprising Update From the Horror Comedys Producer

As a cinephile with over three decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that the prospect of another Beetlejuice film is music to my ears (or should I say, eyes?). The long-awaited sequel has been a delightful surprise, and if there’s one thing we can always count on Tim Burton for, it’s his love for quirky, offbeat characters.

Tommy Harper, who works on the film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” thinks there’s a chance we might see more of the film’s supernatural character again, potentially wrapping up a possible trilogy. Despite not yet receiving confirmation from Warner Bros. or Tim Burton, Harper hints that the opportunity for Burton to complete the trilogy remains open. In an interview with Deadline, Harper suggests that Tim Burton may be inclined to make another film in the Beetlejuice series.

As a follower, I believe that with Tim’s deep affection for the storyline and characters, there’s a strong possibility of what comes next. However, only time will tell.

For quite some time, Tim Harper has been a frequent collaborator with [a particular individual], having first joined forces on the relatively overlooked 2003 film “Big Fish” featuring Ewan McGregor in the lead role. Given the acclaim and financial success of the “Beetlejuice” sequel, it’s challenging to understand why Warner Bros. wouldn’t consider a third installment. Maybe one day, the spooky character will gracefully visit Hawaii…

Although Tim Burton hasn’t officially announced a third Beetlejuice film yet, he has numerous projects in development. One of his current endeavors is the second season of Wednesday, co-starring Jenna Ortega. Moreover, Burton and Harper are planning to collaborate once more on the director’s long-anticipated remake of the 1958 cult sci-fi/horror film Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Harper hinted that the script for this project is nearing completion.

We’ve been working on a project with a writer over an extended period, and we are expecting to receive the script for it shortly.

Tim Burton May Not Make a Third Beetlejuice

Despite Tommy Harper’s enthusiasm for a third installment, Tim Burton remains uncertain about its prospects. It’s been almost four decades since Burton last visited Winter River for another Deetz family adventure in the film world. Prior to directing this new project, Burton had contemplated leaving the industry altogether. Though the concept for the legacy sequel rekindled his passion to step back into the director’s role, Burton playfully suggested that he may not have another 40 years to wait for a third movie. In his own words:

“Well, if [the same] time frame goes on, I’ll be about 100. So maybe. I doubt it.”

The ending of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” seems to hint at a potential third film, as Betelgeuse mysteriously resurfaces in Lydia’s dreams even after being defeated at the church on their wedding day. This raises questions about whether Betelgeuse is still alive (or at least, in spirit form) and causing trouble again in the afterlife, or if Lydia and Astrid have successfully banished him for good. Fans can only hope that they won’t have to wait another 40 years to get answers!

Despite the possibility that Burton might not appear in a third Beetlejuice film, fans are satisfied knowing he’s back as director, eager to create more movies and series. Soon, Burton and Jenna Ortega will reconnect in the second season of Wednesday. During Netflix’s Geeked Week, we got an exclusive peek at some behind-the-scenes footage from the show’s production. The release date for Wednesday season 2 is set for 2025.
