Vince Carter's No. 15 Jersey To Be Retired by Toronto Raptors

As a basketball enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of the game over decades, I can confidently say that Vince Carter is a true legend. His career spanning four different decades is nothing short of remarkable and a testament to his dedication, resilience, and talent.

Vince Carter is making a lasting mark on NBA lore. After being selected for the Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024 earlier this spring, Carter will also see his jersey retired in two stadiums during this upcoming season.

Next month, Carter is scheduled to join the Hall of Fame and have his jersey retired by the Toronto Raptors, with a ceremony taking place on November 2 during their game against the Atlanta Hawks. This will make Carter the first player in the Raptors’ history to have his number retired. Additionally, Carter will receive this honor from the Brooklyn Nets as well, as they plan to hang his No. 15 jersey on rafters on January 25 during their game against the Miami Heat.

Throughout a career of 22 years in the NBA, Vince Carter earned eight All-Star spots, two All-NBA selections, was named Rookie of the Year in 1999 and won the slam dunk contest in 2000. He played in 1,541 games, making him the third most prolific player in league history, after Robert Parish and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Uniquely, he is the only basketball player to have played in four different decades during his NBA career. With the Toronto Raptors, he spent five-and-a-half seasons, earning the nickname “Air Canada” and leading them to their first playoff appearance in 2000 and their first playoff series victory in 2001. Later, he was traded to the New Jersey Nets in 2004.
