MGM+ Orders ‘Robin Hood’ Drama From John Glenn, Jonathan English

As a long-time fan of historical dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement over MGM+’s new Robin Hood series! John Glenn and Jonathan English, two veterans in the field of storytelling, are at the helm of this reimagined adventure. With their extensive experience, I have no doubt that they will breathe fresh life into the classic outlaw hero.

MGM+ has commissioned a fresh take on the Robin Hood saga, with John Glenn serving as the showrunner and Jonathan English taking charge of directing and producing this new series.

The updated Robin Hood series, produced by Lionsgate Television and overseen by Todd Liebermann from Hidden Pictures, is set to commence filming at PFI Studios in Serbia in early 2025. Following production, the show will air on MGM+ sometime in the following year.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Glenn and English are not only gamers like me but also writers and executive producers of this upcoming series. Carly Kleinbart and Nicole Bryant will be keeping tabs on things for Hidden Pictures. This MGM+ series promises an exciting love story between Robin Hood and Marian, making it a must-watch for all us gaming enthusiasts!

The producers describe this series as an intelligent, sweeping, romantic tale that gives historical accuracy, complex character development, and emphasizes the connection between Rob and Marian. Set amidst the aftermath of the Norman invasion of England, Rob, son of a Saxon forester, and Marian, daughter of a Norman lord, find love while fighting for justice and liberty. As Rob becomes the head of a group of rebel outlaws, Marian manipulates the court’s power, together they strive to combat corruption at court and restore peace to the kingdom.

Robin Hood will additionally be accessible for viewing on MGM+ in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Spain, Latin America, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

John and Jonathan are giving an extraordinary spin and a profoundly impactful tale to the new version of Robin Hood. We’re thrilled to collaborate with MGM+ and Todd in bringing the timeless story of Robin Hood to today’s audience, as shared by Jocelyn Sabo, senior vice president of scripted television development at Lionsgate.

Glenn is represented by both CAA and Entertainment 360, just like English and Hidden Pictures are.
