APOS: Paramount+ to Launch in Thailand Via Licensing Deal with Local Streamer Monomax

As a dedicated fan who’s traveled far and wide, diving into the rich tapestry of global entertainment, I can’t help but feel excited by this latest move by Paramount+. Expanding to Thailand through Mono is not just a strategic step for Paramount Global, it’s a testament to their commitment to making great content accessible to audiences worldwide.

Paramount+ is set to make its debut in Thailand. On Thursday, Paramount Global announced a licensing agreement with the Bangkok-based entertainment company Mono. This deal will allow the Paramount+ brand and some of Paramount’s content to be featured on Mono’s expanding streaming service, Monomax.

The collaboration has revealed that Paramount+ will debut on Monomax in November, as announced during the second day of the APOS media conference held in Bali, Indonesia. At the APOS gathering, Lisa Kramer, President of International Content Licensing and Global Content Distribution for Paramount Global, shared that the partnership with Thailand is just the beginning of numerous similar agreements in the region.

Paramount Global’s strategy for spreading its Paramount+ brand and content library globally involves either launching the direct-to-consumer service independently or teaming up with local providers through partnership bundles. Existing agreements like the one in Thailand (with Cosmote in Greece, Streamz in Belgium, MultiChoice in Africa, and JioCinema in India) are examples of this approach. The Philippines’ Blast TV will soon host a Paramount+ branded section on its platform, while in Japan, consumers can access Paramount+ directly.

In Thailand, Mono is primarily recognized for its main digital terrestrial and satellite TV channel, Mono Twenty-Nine. This channel is well-loved as it provides a continuous stream of international TV shows and movies for 24 hours. It’s also a leading content licensor in Thailand, distributing films from major Hollywood studios. Additionally, Monomax, another offering by the company, is gaining popularity with its subscription Video On Demand service.

During its initial phase, the revamped Paramount+ platform on Monomax will grant subscribers entry to a diverse range of content from Showtime, CBS Studios, and Paramount Pictures. This includes hit shows such as FBI: International, NCIS, NCIS: Sydney, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Halo, in addition to action-packed movies like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Hellraiser, and the Mission: Impossible series, among other titles.

At Paramount Global Content Distribution, we’re committed to providing top-notch entertainment to viewers across various themes and genres, using fresh, user-friendly methods. This new partnership with Mono aligns perfectly with this goal, as stated by Dan Cohen, head of content licensing at Paramount and president of Republic Pictures. This deal allows us to expand our reach on streaming platforms worldwide, benefiting both our clients who seek to increase their subscriber base by offering popular content, and users who want easy access to that content within a familiar environment. Ultimately, this strengthens our business as well.

Navamin Prasopnet, Mono’s CEO, stated that their primary aim has consistently been to provide top-notch entertainment experiences for their customers. With the collaboration with Paramount Global Content Distribution, they can substantially enhance their services.
