As a devoted fan, I am genuinely saddened by the news of Unprisoned‘s cancellation after season two. Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo have breathed such life into this heart-wrenching yet uplifting father-daughter dramedy based on Tracy McMillan’s lived experiences.

Unprisoned star Kerry Washington says the Hulu series has been canceled after season two.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the production of ‘Unprisoned’ has concluded – sadly, there won’t be a Season 3. On Friday, Washington shared this heartfelt announcement on his social media platforms, previously known as Twitter and Instagram.

I wished to tell you myself since, though we’re extremely let down, we’re incredibly thankful as well,” she mentioned.

In the series “UnPrisoned”, streaming on Hulu, actors Washington and Delroy Lindo take on roles, with the storyline being inspired by the real life of its creator, Tracy McMillan, and focusing on a heartfelt father-daughter relationship.

Growing up, McMillan was not raised under the confines of prison bars, as her father, Harold, served a cumulative total of 37 years behind bars.

Washington played the role of Paige, a character influenced by McMillan, grappling with feelings of abandonment due to her father, Edwin portrayed by Delroy Lindo, being imprisoned. For a while, she was brought up not by her biological mother, but by Nadine (Brenda Strong), who, as described by Paige, failed to fulfill the role of a nurturing parent.

Washington publicly thanked the supporters of the Hulu series, which included enthusiasts of the program, via a social media update.

She expressed her gratitude in this way: “Many thanks to ABCS, Hulu, and Onyx for providing us a space where we can express our creativity. Above all, we appreciate each and every one of YOU – for joining us, sharing laughter, tears, excitement, reactions (and everything in between) during every episode.
