As a fan who has grown up watching Zachary Levi grace our screens with his charismatic performances, I must admit that his recent political endorsement came as a surprise. However, upon reflecting on his life experiences and understanding his conservative roots, it’s not entirely unexpected.
On Saturday, Zachary Levi, known for his role in Shazam, expressed his endorsement for Donald Trump as the next president. Earlier, he had shown his backing for RFK Jr. instead.
He didn’t plan to spend too long, but he wanted to provide some background as to why Shazam was discussing various topics with you, he explained during a Trump rally in Michigan. “I hail from a family with Christian conservative beliefs,” he said, “and my parents were initially Kennedy Democrats who later became Reagan Republicans. They instilled in me a sense of caution towards the government and industry that oversteps its boundaries.
Through the summer, Levi stood behind RFK Jr.’s presidential campaign, expressing his admiration for the candidate by stating he was “one of the best we’ve seen in a while.” However, towards the end of last month, the Kennedy candidate chose to withdraw from the race.
On Saturday, Levi expressed his backing for RFK. He explained, “For quite some time, I’ve been yearning for a politician who embodies everything I aspire for in a presidential candidate. This year, I believe I’ve found that person in Bobby Kennedy, someone who truly seems like the genuine article to me. If ideally the world were perfect, perhaps I would have cast my vote for Bobby.” However, he acknowledged, “We don’t live in an ideal world; instead, we inhabit a deeply flawed one, a nation that has been taken over by many individuals who are intent on driving us towards disaster. Our goal is to prevent this, isn’t it?
He continued, “We’re here to make sure that we are going to take back this country, we are going to make it great again, we are going to make it healthy again. And so, I stand with Bobby, and I stand with Tulsi, and I stand with everyone else who is standing with President Trump. Because I do believe, of the two choices that we have, and we only have two, Donald Trump, President Trump is the man that can get us there. And he’s gonna get us there because he’s gonna have the backing and the support and the wisdom and the knowledge and the fight that exists in Robert Kennedy Jr. and former representative Tulsi Gabbard.”
Besides the main character of Shazam! and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Levi has also lent his voice to Flynn Ryder in the 2010 film Tangled, and he is set to appear in the future movie, Harold and the Purple Crayon.
