Jaaved Jaaferi thinks Manav-Adi from Dhamaal should have own spin-off series; reveals he suggested the idea to director Indra Kumar

As an ardent fan of Jaaved Jaaferi, I am absolutely captivated by his rich journey in Bollywood and his profound insights into the world of comedy. His unique ability to bring characters to life, from Takeshi’s Castle’s commentator to Bhuvan Bam’s Taaza Khabar Season 2 co-star, never ceases to amaze me.

Jaaved Jaaferi is renowned for his diverse collection of memorable characters spanning his professional journey. Notably, his hilarious commentary on Takeshi’s Castle continues to be fondly remembered by fans. Lately, Jaafari has been the subject of much discussion due to his appearance in Taaza Khabar Season 2, led by Bhuvan Bam. More recently, Jaaferi mentioned that the Dhamaal series could benefit from a sequel and has proposed this idea to director Indra Kumar.

In a recent chat with Bhuvan, the lead actor of Taaza Khabar Season 2, IMDb’s Jaaved discussed different aspects of their lives and careers. Bhuvan inquired about which roles of Jaaved’s he believed could benefit from a standalone series. Upon consideration, Jaaved pointed out that his role as “Crocodile Dundee” from Salaam Namaste was the one that initially garnered attention and grew to be well-liked among viewers.

Later on, he emphasized his notable performances – firstly, his charming role in Dhamaal that resonated with children, followed by his comical depiction of Punjabi pride in Singh Is King which was well-received by audiences. As Jaaved explained, these characters stood out as unique and cherished by fans.

Jaaferi proposed that it’s not just his unique personality, but the captivating duo of Manav Shrivastav and Aditya Shrivastav from the Dhamaal series—with him playing Manav and Arshad Warsi portraying Adi in all three movies—that truly warrants a sequel.

“In fact, I have suggested to Indra Kumar, the director of Dhamaal, to create something on Adi and Manav’s characters — a proper web series featuring Adi and Manav.” Bhuvan, excited by this idea, encouraged viewers to “Sign a petition to create a series on Adi and Manav: #BringBackAdiManav.”

Jaaved Jaaferi discussed the priceless wisdom he gleaned from his famed Bollywood comedian father, Jagdeep. When inquired about the key to his comedic talent, Jaaved revealed that he derived significant knowledge from watching his father’s craftsmanship during an era when Johnny Walker, Mehmood, and Jagdeep each had their unique fan bases.

He recalled his father telling him that his primary audience was not the elite living in upscale areas like Nariman Point and Cuffe Parade, but rather the people from small towns, farmers, and rickshaw drivers—essentially, the true representation of India.

In simpler terms, it can be said that his father pointed out that these groups represented 90-95% of the overall population, and he mainly catered to them in his performances. Additionally, Jaaved mentioned that his father paid little attention to criticism, as he thought that as long as his main audience was enjoying the humor and connecting with it, that was what truly mattered. He often found that more intricate forms of comedy didn’t always resonate with this core group.

Jaaved admitted that when he joined the movie business and built his own path, the method of delivering comedy had changed. He clarified that his part in Dhamaal necessitated a unique style because it incorporated physical humor, calling for a specific acting approach.

In a similar vein, when dealing with subtler comedies, he would tailor his acting approach to fit the movie’s tone. To clarify, this is much like how actors might play villains – some characters are over-the-top, but others exhibit a more reserved performance.

During a chat with MensXp, Jaaferi impersonated Shah Rukh Khan, highlighting that among actors of his generation, SRK is the only one who stands out due to his unique acting style. He explained that this special trait sets SRK apart from others in his age group because it showcases a profound grasp of his own stardom essence. Although he admitted that Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are also prominent stars, Jaaferi stressed that Shah Rukh’s distinctive style is unmatched and has become synonymous with him.
