Death Stranding 2 - All Characters So Far

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the Tokyo Game Show this year was a true feast for the eyes, particularly when it comes to Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2. Being an avid fan of the first game, I was thrilled to see familiar faces like Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile, as well as new additions such as Tomorrow, Rain, and Dollman.

At this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima was granted a unique platform to unveil the much-awaited sequel to Death Stranding. Norman Reedus reprises his role along with a blend of both new and familiar faces, imbuing the post-apocalyptic setting with an atmosphere reminiscent of Tinseltown.

Here are the confirmed characters returning, as well as fresh faces into the world of Kojima-san.

SAM PORTER BRIDGES

As a die-hard fan, I can hardly conceive of the Death Stranding universe without its central figure, played by Norman Reedus as the indispensable Sam. In the aftermath of the initial game, it seems that this rebuilt world maintains some lingering connection to our last encounter with him.

Following the calamity in Edge Knot City and all that transpired with Cliff Unger, Sam is now looking towards the future with his newly formed circle of companions. In contrast to previous times, Death Stranding 2 will lead him to destinations beyond North America, lying entirely outside the Chiral network.

FRAGILE

In this rephrased version: Lea Seydoux’s character, Fragile, has undergone a transformation and exudes newfound confidence in her role for a post-apocalyptic narrative. Now identified as Drawbridge, she assumes control over our travels, guiding us through various stages of our journey from one location to another.

Death Stranding 2 - All Characters So Far

Stepping into the DHV once more, I find myself reunited with Magellan, Fragile, and others in a world shattered by the enigmatic Death Stranding incident. With our trusty metallic hulk, we navigate vast expanses and circumvent treacherous tars. In this sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, our journey delves deep into unexplored territories as we embark on a fresh quest through uncharted lands.

HEARTMAN

In the hands of Drive’s director Nicolas Winding Refn, Heartman made his anticipated comeback, largely due to his proficiency on the beach. His unique heart ailment serves as a useful narrative tool, allowing him to move between realms. Consistently, he seeks his lost family, yet remains unsuccessful in finding them.

Heartman persists in aiding the group as they delve into the enigma surrounding the Beach. In his quaint, heart-adorned cabin, he’s often found.

TOMORROW

In Death Stranding 2, Elle Fanning portrays a freshly introduced character named Tomorrow. Her enigmatic nature has left players intrigued, as discussions revolve around deciphering her identity. As of now, her background and abilities remain unknown, but the mere presence of this character makes her pivotal in the overall narrative plotline.

The team discovered her enclosed within a chrysalis oozing with dark goo, much like those from Bt organisms. Some spectators suggest that she might be afflicted by DOOMS, a peculiar state allowing people to traverse into an alternate realm.

RAINY

In the sequel, Shioli Kutsuna portrays the newly introduced character named Rain. Accompanying Sam and Fragile on their Drawbridge expedition, Rain is pregnant and not much else about her has been disclosed yet. However, through its striking photo mode, we learn that she is a good friend of both Fragile and Tomorrow.

TARMAN

In the depiction by George Miller, Tarman hails from Drawbridge and holds the roles of both captain and pilot aboard the DHV Magellan. Additionally, he functions as a medical professional on the ship. Notably, he was responsible for freeing Tomorrow from her chrysalis. The specifics about his past and motivations remain shrouded in mystery.

DOLLMAN

In the creative hands of renowned director Fatih Akin, Dollman is introduced as a fresh character for the sequel, joining the ranks of Drawbridge. This animated figure resembles a living doll and moves with an unusual stop-motion quality. He remains a total enigma; even the trailers fail to shed much light on his intentions. So, why exactly has Dollman found himself in Drawbridge?

HIGGS

In the upcoming sequel, it’s confirmed that Higgs, played by Troy Baker, will reappear. After suffering defeat at the hands of Sam on the beach, Higgs emerges in the real world to seek vengeance against Norman Reedus and his peculiar offspring. The trailers haven’t provided any explanation for his comeback, but we can observe him assuming Amelie’s appearance.

He exudes a badass persona with anger management issues and an electric guitar.

Despite the abundance of new and recurring characters, one enigma persists: Where could BB be hiding? Baby Lou, who charms Sam, doesn’t appear in promotional previews or snapshots. Some fans propose that Elle Fanning’s Tomorrow character may be Lou as an adult. For now, we can only engage in speculation until Kojima shares another trailer, revealing the truth.

Death Stranding 2 is not expected for quite some time, but developer Hideo Kojima hinted at a potential launch in the coming year.
