As a die-hard Gilmore Girls fan who grew up with Rory and Lane, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia and a tinge of regret watching Adam Brody shine in Nobody Wants This. His portrayal of Noah Roklov is undeniably charming, making me question the showrunners’ decision to write off Dave Rygalski after just nine episodes!
For quite some time now, the battle among streaming platforms, often referred to as the “streaming wars,” has been ongoing. Notably, Netflix consistently adds fresh movie and TV content to its library. Lately, subscribers of Netflix have been enjoying the new romantic comedy series titled “Nobody Wants This,” starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. Moreover, Brody’s captivating portrayal as a charismatic Rabbi is stirring up feelings of missing out on something related to “Gilmore Girls.” In summary: The streaming wars have been going strong for years; Netflix regularly offers new movies and TV shows; the latest romantic comedy series on Netflix, “Nobody Wants This,” stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody; and Brody’s performance as a dreamy Rabbi brings back “Gilmore Girls” nostalgia.
The movie “Nobody Wants This” currently boasts an exceptional rotten tomatoes rating and is highly sought-after on Netflix. Furthermore, the captivating charm of Adam Brody, portraying Noah Roklov, has ignited a frenzy online. Watching his irresistible allure only serves to disappoint me that his stint as Dave Rygalski in “Gilmore Girls” was brief.
In the midst of Brody’s rising stardom, he made a guest appearance for nine episodes in “Gilmore Girls” as Lane’s love interest and bandmate, Dave. Regrettably, his character was removed after Season 3, which many assume was to allow the actor to take on a role in “The O.C.”. Although another cast member took over the band role, some viewers feel that Lane and Dave were meant to be together, an opinion I share too.
Absolutely, fans of Gilmore Girls are well aware of how Lane’s story unfolded in the long run. Even after Dave parted ways with Hep Alien, the band persisted throughout the entire series, including the Netflix revival a few years back. In A Year In The Life, some of the show’s enigmas were addressed, but unfortunately, we never caught sight of Dave again.
In the end, Lane developed a romantic bond with Zack, and they eventually got married and had twins. However, some fans believe that Dave would have been a better match for Keiko Agena’s beloved character in the show. With Adam Brody displaying his heartthrob appeal in “Nobody Wants This,” it leaves me feeling deprived as a Gilmore Girls fan, and I can’t help but feel the same way on behalf of Lane Kim. Truth be told, Zack was never the epitome of dreaminess.
The response for the series titled “Nobody Wants This” has been diverse on Netflix, with some viewers criticizing its plotline and general direction, while others have expressed discomfort towards certain depictions of Jewish characters, claiming they are stereotypical. However, it’s anticipated that many viewers are engrossed in the new Netflix show, particularly fans of Gilmore Girls who can enjoy both shows on the same streaming platform.
It’s quite possible that other Gilmore Girls enthusiasts might experience a sense of missing out (FOMO) regarding Dave and Lane while watching Nobody Wants This. Even though his stint on the cherished show was brief, he left an undeniable mark. Furthermore, a new group of admirers will surely be smitten by Adam Brody.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve just discovered that “Nobody Wants This” is now available for streaming in its entirety on Netflix! If you’re like me and always on the lookout for something new to binge-watch, don’t forget to check out the TV premiere list. Let’s dive in together!
