This week, Lingsha was introduced in Honkai: Star Rail, but despite attempting around 55 pulls, I failed to recruit her. Therefore, my plan for the weekend is to gather as many Stellar Jades as possible to give it another go. I’m also contemplating whether it’s reasonable for me to purchase Oneiric Shards in the meantime.
I’m diving back into the cosmos with Starfield once more. It appears that many people felt disappointed by the DLC, and it seems that’s a common sentiment towards the entire game. However, I’ve been finding it quite enjoyable. On another note, Wreckfest has caught my attention again. I completed it on PS5 previously, but now it’s available on Game Pass, so let’s hit the tracks once more!

Capybara Go! has absolutely swallowed me whole. I’ve been playing it all week, will play it over the weekend, and will keep playing it over the next week and the next until my plump little capybara calls it quits.
Absolutely, whenever he feels like pausing from his relentless slime monster annihilation spree, I opt for a brief jog on Choice of Life: Wild Islands as it offers an ideal escape when it comes to making life-like decisions. Though I can’t burst into spontaneous song during real-life pirate battles, the Choose Your Own Adventure style game allows me such freedom and even rewards me with an additional Heart. What a delightful change of pace!

It’s still Balatro for me.
This week, I took two trips. One of these journeys led me to Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki, leaving my reliable computer behind for a while. In the absence of my PC, I indulged in more mobile gaming than usual during the evenings. Initially, I planned to delve into the new Crusader Kings III DLC, but circumstances had other plans, and instead, I found myself teaming up with Jimbo for some playtime.
I said last week that I think that Balatro is perfect for mobile and I stand by that. However, it’s much more than the fact that card games feel great here, it’s that the team have really used touchscreen to every advantage. Even touching a card to see the modifiers is intuitive and done in a way where you don’t block off the screen with your curiousity (or, more likely, finger).
As for me and good ol’ Jimbo, we’ve had our share of gaming encounters, but I’m determined to maintain the heat and complete a few more game collections while also progressing deeper into those colorful leaderboards.

With all the flying I’ve done this past week, I’ve found myself downloading and enjoying offline games. One game in particular has caught my attention, and I plan on continuing to play it throughout the weekend – it’s called “Cat Snack Bar.
It was our middle child, Amelia, who came up with the idea! It’s a leisurely video game featuring small cat-themed restaurants that you manage. Currently, they are hosting a fairy festival, and since I’ve already begun, I need to see it through now!

A few years back, I played Phobies by Smoking Gun Interactive – a turn-based strategy game where combat is based on fears. However, as others improved significantly more than me, and given my lack of strategic thinking skills, I didn’t derive much benefit from my losses. What I truly appreciated was the game’s atmosphere and spending time in that eerie world. Frankly, repeated losses can become quite tedious after a while.
Lately, I’ve been keen on playing it once more. This year’s Halloween event, Dead or Alive, has played a significant part in drawing me back into the game. I aim to analyze my mistakes during those inevitable defeats and hopefully learn from them. Frankly, I’m not optimistic about that.
This coming Saturday, it’s Community Day in Pokemon Go for me, so I’ll be on the hunt for a unique Shiny Sewaddle, not swarms, as I don’t subscribe to that idea. Meanwhile, off my mobile screen, I’m deep in the wild west of Red Dead Redemption 2. I haven’t gotten too far yet, but I’ve already held up a few trains and stirred up some dust with barroom brawls – classic cowboy action!

After resuming my farming adventure in Stardew Valley last week, I’ve chosen to utilize an application to customize my game. Although I’ve never ventured into modding before, I’ve observed it frequently on PC versions. Now, I’m eagerly preparing a completely modified mobile farm for the weekend!

For my upcoming weekend plans, I’ll be heading back home and have decided to download a couple of offline games for entertainment: CatPots and Anna’s Monster Farm. The former particularly appeals to me as I’m a fan of both cute kittens and plants. I’m quite eager about CatPots because it appears to have an enchanting art style reminiscent of Cats and Soup, while offering the unique feature of discovering new cat hybrids based on the plants you cross. I can’t wait to see if it lives up to my expectations!

Over the past couple of weeks, you might have observed my absence. This is because I’ve been traveling to Tokyo and attended the Tokyo Game Show! Since I spent a lot of time on the metro commuting, I was seeking something to pass the time, which reminded me that Balatro had recently been launched.
A blend of Solitaire and roguelike deckbuilding games captured global attention a few months back, and it was inevitable that it would eventually arrive on mobile devices. Having tried it myself, I can understand its allure, yet I must admit that its challenging nature, particularly for someone like me who isn’t as proficient in card games, is quite formidable.
I enjoyed playing this game not only during my commute on the metro and while flying, but also while waiting for my connecting flights. I wholeheartedly suggest it! However, Vampire Survivors continues to be my preferred choice for passing short spans of time.
