Jigra: Karan Johar REACTS to allegations of helping Alia Bhatt get Vasan Bala’s film: ‘I fold my hands and tell everyone…’

As a long-time observer of Bollywood’s intricate web of relationships and power dynamics, I find myself both amused and disheartened by this latest turn of events involving Karan Johar and Vasan Bala. The allegations of favoritism and nepotism are not new to the industry, but they continue to surface, stirring up a storm of controversy.

Lately, film director Vasan Bala disclosed that Karan Johar shared an unfinished script of his movie with Alia Bhatt without his consent, expressing dissatisfaction over this move. This disclosure sparked criticism towards Johar and sparked discussions about nepotism and bias in the Bollywood industry. Now, Johar has responded to the casting debate surrounding Jigra by saying, “I humbly request everyone to listen and read entire interviews before jumping to clickbait conclusions”.

On his Instagram, Johar wrote, “A while back, Twitter turned into something I no longer recognized… I ended things with its constant noise and anger that made me queasy… But social media is like the Loch Ness Monster, it still manages to affect you even when you think it’s gone… Recently, I was inundated with Vasan Bala’s interview. He responded with such pure innocence and love.

The filmmaker commented, “The absurd misunderstanding of my statement that I hadn’t proofread the script before sending it to Alia amused me at first due to its ridiculousness, but now it’s becoming really irritating… Vasan remains one of my most gifted and cherished collaborators. If you watch his interview and listen to his tone, you’ll understand completely! However, all this fuss about nothing is just everywhere…

He closed by interlacing his fingers and asking everyone to thoroughly listen and read the whole series of interviews, rather than jumping to sensationalized conclusions. Sending a heap of love to each and every one of you.

During an interview with Tried & Refused Productions, Vasan shared that he’d written an unpolished email to Johar, characterizing it as a flow of thoughts where he hastily penned down his ideas. Later on, he remembered Karan contacting him to say that the email had been forwarded to Alia just a few hours after he sent it.

Vasan voiced his discontent, explaining that he wasn’t pleased with the choice made and wondered why it was sent in a rough form without proper editing. He suggested that even a simple spell check, grammar correction, and potential enhancement of the hero’s introduction could have been done.

Jigra starring Alia and Vedang Raina is all set to hit theaters on October 11, 2024.
