I countered that viewers might prefer to see Catherine get a firm reprimand instead, given her actions. By the finale of Season 20, Catherine Fox appeared to have fully transformed into a formidable antagonist, acting on arrogance and malice rather than what was beneficial for Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital or its patients. In her overreaching ambition, she dismissed several doctors, asserting that they were all interchangeable, which ultimately led Bailey to challenge her authority.
There’s no question that Debbie Allen’s character carried the weight to give an inspiring speech when the Season 21 premiere resumed, but the actress felt it wasn’t what fans were expecting.
