As a devoted fan who grew up with the antics of the Forman family and their friends in That ’70s Show, hearing about the cancellation of its sequel spinoff series, That ’90s Show, left me feeling like I just got kicked out of the house during dinner time – it’s just wrong!
Netflix has officially cancelled its That ’70s Show sequel spinoff series, That ’90s Show.
Actor Kurtwood Smith, known for portraying Red Forman in both the original and sequel series, revealed via social media that season 3 won’t be coming on Netflix. He posted a behind-the-scenes picture with the caption, “Many of you have been wondering when season 3 is out, but unfortunately…Netflix won’t be renewing.” However, he added that they will try to find another platform for the show to ensure it gets a fitting conclusion. Quoting Red Forman, Smith said, “We aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would work hard to make sure their grandkids graduate from high school.
The announcement that the show was being cancelled took fans by surprise, particularly since it seemed like the second season was only starting to establish its rhythm. For those yet to catch up (spoilers follow), the finale of the second season saw Leia Forman, daughter of Donna and Eric Forman, successfully persuade her parents to allow her to remain in Point Place for the upcoming school year with her friends.
Stay tuned for more info.
