Tom Selleck Only Has One Regret About Blue Bloods - And It's Pretty Sad

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of “Blue Bloods”, it’s always fascinating to hear behind-the-scenes insights from our favorite actors. Tom Selleck‘s recent revelation about his one regret regarding Frank Reagan’s character arc is both heartfelt and amusing.

As I write this, we’re getting close to the final season of “Blue Bloods,” and it seems that as the Reagan family’s adventures draw to a close, Tom Selleck is taking a moment to reminisce and contemplate what he feels were mistakes in his portrayal of Frank’s character development.

It turns out the one thing he wishes he could change about Frank’s life is a very bittersweet regret related to the character’s status as a widower. “Everybody says, “Well, it’d be nice to see [Frank] have a relationship. If I had any regrets, it would be that because they weren’t writing a relationship, he didn’t get to flirt often enough. But that didn’t fit what became our format,” he said during an interview with TVInsider. Since it’s a serious story about close-knit families, Frank doesn’t often get to show a playful or romantic side on the show.

Selleck clarified that his character, Frank Reagan from the series “Blue Bloods”, has been known to flirt with other women throughout the show, but these interactions have never led to romantic entanglements. In simpler terms, he explained, “Frank’s not gone! He continues to wear his wedding ring, but he isn’t immune to needing companionship and occasionally flirting.” However, the show hasn’t explored Frank’s romantic life more extensively for a specific reason.

A packed front burner kept Frank’s love life ice cold

The reason Frank’s love life didn’t receive more focus during the “Blue Bloods” series was because there wasn’t enough screen time available. Tom Selleck explained that each episode featured three main stories initially, and when Vanessa [Ray] became a regular character, this increased to four. Given these constraints, there simply wasn’t room to delve deeper into Frank’s romantic life. Despite his enthusiasm for exploring it, he acknowledged that they couldn’t fit everything into the show.

In the last episode, Selleck didn’t clarify if Frank would unexpectedly find love. On the contrary, when it comes to the speculation surrounding Frank’s retirement from the NYPD, as hinted by the showrunners that he won’t be leaving, Selleck was unusually tight-lipped about this matter. He merely stated, “A lot happens in the final episode, but Frank remains a constant. He continues to be a solitary man and a police commissioner.

Solitary man or not, audiences love Frank Reagan despite his many flaws as a person.
