KIA UK Celebrates 80 Year Anniversary with One-Off KIA Pride Restomod

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours cruising virtual highways in electric vehicles, I must say, the KIA Pride EV has truly captured my attention! With its unique blend of retro charm and modern technology, it’s like a nostalgic nod to the past, electrified for the future.

KIA UK has introduced a unique electric remodel to mark its 80th anniversary: the KIA Pride EV. This project was carried out in partnership with Electrogenic, which converted the 1996 KIA Pride 1.3 LX into an entirely electric vehicle. The debut of the KIA Pride EV took place at Bicester Heritage’s “Scramble” event.

In place of the original 60 horsepower gasoline engine, an electric motor now offers more than 100 horsepower and a torque of 173 pound-feet. The Pride EV retains its traditional design with a five-speed manual transmission, yet boasts contemporary elements such as White Pearl paint and lime green interior highlights. Two battery packs of 10kWh each, amounting to a total capacity of 20kWh, enable a driving range of up to 120 miles in Eco mode. The vehicle offers three drive modes – Eco, Sport, and Auto – tailoring the car’s performance according to various driving preferences.

KIA clarified that the unique vehicle was just created as a special tribute, and it’s not intended for regular sales in the market.
