Approximately six weeks following its premiere, the streaming service has renewed “Kaos,” a dark comedy that blends Greek and Roman mythology, for a second season. In its initial four weeks on Netflix, “Kaos” consistently ranked among the top English-language series, peaking at No. 3 during the week of Sept. 2-8. Over this period, it garnered 14.9 million views, which is considered a moderate figure in comparison to Netflix’s usual viewership statistics.
As of September 8th, in the U.S., the program had accumulated approximately 3.34 million viewings, as reported by Nielsen’s streaming ratings; however, viewing figures for subsequent weeks have not been disclosed yet.
In modern times, the series “Kaos” reimagines Greek and Roman mythology. The show features Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, who has imprisoned Prometheus (Stephen Dillane) on a cliff for defying his rule. As punishment, Prometheus plots to dethrone Zeus with the aid of three humans: Eurydice (Aurora Perrineau), Ariadne (Leila Farzad), and Caeneus (Misia Butler). The ensemble also includes Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, Rakie Ayola, Killian Scott, Nabhaan Rizwan, Debi Mazar, Mat Fraser, Stanley Townsend, Billie Piper, and Suzy Eddie Izzard.
On Instagram, Perrineau expressed that the show’s cancellation was particularly painful for her, but she commended her castmates and the creative team behind the scenes. “Each of you were exceptional and authentically yourself,” she penned. “Every scene I watched left me in awe, as your performances continually caught me off guard and brought excitement. I never thought I’d be fortunate enough to work with all of you on this project. Together, we crafted something strange, darkly comic, twisted, and heartbreakingly human.
