One such friendship that stands out is the unique bond between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Their camaraderie is not just limited to their on-screen chemistry but extends beyond it as well.
Shah Rukh Khan is often lauded for his kind and courteous demeanor, especially towards his fellow actors. Known as King Khan, he maintains a unique relationship with one of his past co-stars, Deepika Padukone. In a recent find, an old video emerged where the renowned actor expressed that he’d be willing to undertake extraordinary tasks for Chennai Express’s Deepika, such as scaling tall mountains and crossing wide oceans. This heartfelt declaration earned him a sweet kiss on his cheeks from Deepika, who was touched by his sentiments.
Deepika Padukone first appeared in Bollywood alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster, setting the stage for her career in the industry. Since then, she has kept a strong bond with the actor known as Dunki’s star. Later, they collaborated again on Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express, which was both critically and commercially successful. During this time, the chemistry between SRK and DP generated much discussion among audiences.
Behind the scenes footage of the song Titli, posted by T-series (the film’s music partner), offered a closer look at the friendly relationship between the actors. In one part of that song, Shah Rukh’s character Rahul carries Deepika’s character Meenamma in his arms to ascend 100 temple steps as part of a religious custom.
During filming, the actor jokingly remarked, “I’d do anything for Deepika—scale buildings, conquer tall mountains, and swim vast oceans. So, a hundred steps is no big deal for her.” As she overheard this nearby, Deepika playfully kissed the star on the cheek in response.
He teased Deepika Padukone and said, “In Om Shanti Om, it was fire, this was the mountains, and the third film we do will be in the water, and that time will be the most interesting to see Deepika.” The actress laughed and began throwing small items at Shah Rukh, who was laughing over the same.
Later on, they worked together once more in Happy New Year and Pathaan. Interestingly, this actress also took up a minor role in Jawan for SRK. In an interview with The Week, she stated that Shah Rukh Khan and herself are each other’s lucky charms and have a special bond, almost like they both own a piece of each other.
In terms of their careers, Deepika has become a mother to a baby girl, while Shah Rukh Khan is set to appear in director Sujoy Ghosh’s movie titled “King” in the near future.
