Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds' 'It's Happening' Announcement Disappoints MCU Fans

As a cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the Marvel Universe, I must confess that this recent turn of events left me feeling a tad bewildered and slightly let down. The prospect of seeing Deadpool and Wolverine reunite on the silver screen was tantalizingly dangled before us just over two years ago, only to be snatched away like a mirage in the desert.

Option A: They failed to meet expectations of those who had waited since they made their unusual declaration about Deadpool and Wolverine more than two years back. In a recently posted video by Jackman, he appears on the same couch where Reynolds had made that announcement earlier, but unfortunately for many fans, instead of announcing another adventure for either character, Jackman was there to publicize his upcoming stage show.

I kick off this video all by myself, surrounded by my comfortable haunts, and the anticipation among Marvel enthusiasts was palpable as they leaned in. In my own words, I say:

Approximately two years and a few days ago, Ryan occupied this exact spot and shared with everyone that I would return for Deadpool & Wolverine, an experience I’ll never forget. Since then, Ryan and I have had an incredible journey, and I can’t help but ponder what lies ahead.

At that moment, Reynolds appears strolling across the scene’s background, making his way upstairs, while Jackman carries on mimicking the Deadpool & Wolverine announcement by hollering towards Reynolds, inquiring whether he desires to accompany Jackman in New York for his new live show, titled “From New York with Love“. The video subsequently raises Reynolds’ hopes – as it does for all viewers – only to dash them by acknowledging that he is wanted merely to be a spectator in the audience and not share the stage with Jackman.

Hugh Jackman’s Stage Return is Great, but It’s Not Wolverine Great

Fans of Jackman are eagerly awaiting his brief return to Radio City Music Hall, a performance they’ll be desperate to attend since The Greatest Showman returns to the stage after breaking box office records this summer, alongside Reynolds, in Marvel’s third most successful film in nearly three years. But what everyone is truly curious about is if the whispers of Jackman continuing his role as Wolverine within the MCU are founded or just speculation.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but express my thoughts on the ongoing speculation surrounding Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the blockbuster success of Deadpool and Wolverine, it appears Marvel Studios are eager to keep Jackman’s iconic portrayal of the mutant hero for as long as feasible. The prospect of recasting this beloved character is seemingly one of the most challenging in cinematic history; everyone seems to be postponing it as much as they can.

Until an official statement comes from a Marvel executive (or that famous couch), everything discussed so far remains speculative and may not align with expectations some fans might have had. Yet, neither actor will likely face genuine anger or disappointment from the public, as this kind of self-promotion is something both are skilled at handling.
