Silent Hill 2 Remake – How to Beat Flesh Lips Boss

Silent Hill 2 Remake - How to Beat Flesh Lips Boss

Well, as a seasoned survivor of Silent Hill’s twisted labyrinths and its Lovecraftian horrors, I must say, the Flesh Lips boss encounter in the Silent Hill 2 Remake has left me quite intrigued and slightly terrified.

If you’ve found yourself here, it seems you’re grappling with a Lovecraftian-scale conundrum. The Lips of Flesh, also known as the Lustful Lips, is the climactic boss battle that concludes your journey through the regular Brookhaven Hospital area. Just to clarify, not the alternate dimension or otherworld.

Following Laura’s mischievous behavior as she shoves you through the door, the manager of Flesh Lips will trail after you in the cutscene, setting up the initial significant boss battle in Silent Hill 2 Remake. This character is a humanoid figure made of flesh, ensnared in a rectangular metallic enclosure.

Conserve Ammo

Prior to engaging with Flesh Lips, it’s crucial to save your ammunition for the upcoming boss battle. Be sure to gather necessary healing supplies and shotgun ammo as you explore the hospital. If you’re unsure about the location of the shotgun, take a look at this guide here.

This boss requires a ton of ammo as you need it to destroy its metallic defenses.

SPOILERS

Just so you know, the Remake bosses have a major twist to their encounters. It isn’t like the original, where James can just go in the corner and shoot until it dies. Flesh Lips is the first taste (eugh) of Silent Hill 2 Remake’s reworked boss fights.

The boss has two phases. Yep, you read that right. The original version does not fall to the ground. In the Remake, he will drop down once you have depleted enough of its health. Its moveset will change and will surprise new and old players. This forces you to change tactics once it happens.

Observe Its Moveset

The first phase requires you to dodge and shoot when he hangs on the ceiling. Check the ceiling tiles; dust will fall, and sound FX will warn you of its next attack.

The initial part is quite predictable, but Flesh Lips’ dynamic maneuver can span a considerable space. Therefore, stay alert.

Shoot its Hands and Exposed Flesh!

After familiarizing yourself with its attack patterns, you’re ready to strategize your offensive approach. Unlike the initial Pyramid Head boss battle where you merely waited for the alarms to sound, this time around, you need to defeat it actively.

When suspended from the ceiling, you can target its visible appendages (which resemble hands), causing it to stumble. For a more precise shot, consider using a handgun.

After it drops to the ground, it remains motionless for a short while. This moment provides the ideal opportunity to fire the shotgun shells and reveal its inner tissue. Keep doing this until you reach its second stage.

The Last Stand

You know you’re doing great when he drops down and breaks the other side of the room. This will give you a more expansive space to move around and evade its new moves. There are also healing items and ammo found around the corners.

This is its final defense. It will break free from the metallic restraint and retaliate with a sequence of spiked assaults. Flesh Lips will wield metal rods taken from its former shelter, spinning and thrusting spikes at you from afar. Be sure to maintain your distance.

In my excitement as a fan, I’d rephrase it like this: For its last desperate act, it will emit a gurgling shriek. Hang tight until the noise subsides, then retreat swiftly. Afterwards, continue to apply pressure by firing any remaining bullets from your handgun and shotgun at its exposed flesh.

Once you successfully defeat him, a sequence will unfold. Yet, it’s important to note that this victory doesn’t signify an end to the ordeal. Nevertheless, I offer my congratulations, regardless of the outcome.
