Law Roach Recalls How Celine Dion “Changed My Life”

As a fan who cherishes heartwarming stories of resilience and friendship in the world of fashion, I can’t help but be captivated by Law Roach’s journey. From his transformative collaboration with Celine Dion to his unwavering support for Zendaya, he embodies the spirit of a true mentor and friend.

Law Roach holds a deep affection for his long-term clients, Celine Dion and Zendaya, who have a significant spot in his heart.

The well-known fashion advisor recently shared on SiriusXM’s “Bevelations with Bevy Smith” how the singer of “My Heart Will Go On” significantly impacted his life following her widely popular “Titanic” sweatshirt incident in 2016.

Host Bevy Smith recently discussed Carlton Roach’s book, titled “How to Build a Fashion Icon: Insights on Confidence from the World’s Only Image Architect,” which was published last month. In this book, Roach discusses his role in helping Mariah Carey rediscover moments of liberation and amusement after the loss of her husband and brother. It was all ignited by the globally renowned Vetements sweatshirt, as Smith put it.

As I look back, I was inexorably drawn towards it. It significantly transformed others’ views of her and reshaped the course of my professional journey. Celine had a profound impact on my life – offering me a chance to redefine mine.

The stylist revealed that Dion and they shared such a tight bond that when asked to unexpectedly reappear at the 2024 Grammys to present the Album of the Year award (which Taylor Swift eventually won following her Stiff-Person Syndrome diagnosis in 2022), they would agree, but only if one condition was met.

He shared that the first thing she mentioned after winning the Grammys for Album of the Year was a request – she didn’t want to proceed if he wasn’t present, as she had learned about his retirement plans. He replied, “I would do anything for her at any moment. Whenever she calls, I’m ready.

Roach has also had a long-standing relationship with his client, Zendaya, having collaborated with her since 2011 while she was still acting on the Disney Channel. On their first encounter, Roach felt an immediate conviction that she was destined for greatness, referring to her as a future superstar.

On our first encounter, we spent the day shopping together, an adventure I’ll always cherish. We separated from her father and aunt at the mall, running wildly around the stores. When we returned, her father reprimanded her sharply, ‘You don’t know this person. You’re trying on clothes with him in different stores without even knowing him.’ This was a characteristic trait of hers that I recognized immediately. Consequently, we made a pact – I vowed to show the world my perception of her, and that involved using every resource at my disposal, including buying clothes on my credit card, returning them, and doing anything possible to emphasize our friendship.

Smith replied, “There’s a lot to handle when you’re not the main act,” and Roach agreed, “That’s true.

Despite announcing his retirement, Roach has continued to work with Zendaya, creating numerous memorable styles for events such as red carpet appearances, movie premieres, and the Met Gala.
