Did you know James Cameron was reminded of his favorite film after watching Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Shikara?

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for cinematic excellence, I find myself deeply inspired by the resilience and unyielding spirit of filmmaker extraordinaire, Vidhu Vinod Chopra. His journey, much like a well-crafted screenplay, is a testament to the power of perseverance and the ability to find success in the face of adversity.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but gush about the legendary Vidhu Vinod Chopra, a renowned Indian filmmaker whose masterpieces have swept countless box offices, from Mission Kashmir to 12th Fail. Throughout his illustrious career, this director has accumulated invaluable lessons that fuel his determination even in the face of adversity.

During an interview, Vidhu Vinod Chopra shared with PTI that he didn’t consider Shikara a failure, as James Cameron himself, after watching the film in New Zealand, approached him and expressed that it reminded him of his most cherished movie, Doctor Zhivago. To clarify for those unaware, Doctor Zhivago is the 1965 epic historical romance film set amidst war-torn Russia, much like Chopra’s film, which depicts a story against the backdrop of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir.

It was disclosed that despite director Cameron being a part-time drinker, he joined Chopra in a movie theater for an evening drink. He admitted that there were three bottles of wine prepared for them, and they continued drinking until late at night. At this point, Cameron was engaged in filming the follow-up to Avatar. “For me, that’s what success is. Your success or failure depends on you. You must strive to do your best; if your best isn’t sufficient, don’t fret, just try again,” Chopra shared with the media outlet.

During our engaging discussion, the director of Parinda mentioned that they intend to re-release Shikara next year under its original title, Love Letter from Kashmir. For those who may not be aware, Shikara is a production by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by him, with a loose basis in Rahul Pandita’s novel, Our Moon Has Blood Clots. The film stars Aadil Khan and Sadia Khateeb.
