As a devoted admirer of the multitalented Piyush Mishra, I find myself captivated by his extraordinary journey through the Indian film industry and the fascinating tales that accompany it. His latest conversation with Bollywood Hungama has only added fuel to my fandom fire!

In a recent interview, Piyush Mishra discussed his esteemed career, sharing some memorable performances and tunes for Indian cinema. He also collaborated on-screen with distinguished actors such as Ranbir Kapoor. During the conversation, he reminisced about working alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali in Rockstar and Tamasha.

In many areas such as acting, singing, writing lyrics, plays, music, and screenplays, Piyush Mishra has excelled throughout his long career. At present, he’s on a major India tour with his project Ballimaaraan, but he recently spoke to Bollywood Hungama about both his personal and professional life. During the conversation, the artist discussed what it was like collaborating with Imtiaz Ali in the 2015 romantic-drama film, Tamasha.

In a similar vein, the stars known for “Gangs of Wasseypur” shared that the actor played his role exactly as Ali had written it, and interestingly, he did so approximately 16 times. However, Mishra pointed out that this filmmaker has a distinctive approach to movie-making. According to him, Imtiaz doesn’t opt for retakes; instead, he encourages the actor to continue acting while he keeps filming. Later, during editing, he selects the best performance for the final cut. Additionally, Mishra stated that both Ranbir Kapoor and himself are among Ali’s trusted actors. Furthermore, their camaraderie was quite strong on set, which led to them repeatedly performing their roles. Consequently, he kept the portions that he felt were outstanding in the film.

In the same conversation, actor Akshaye Khanna, known for his role in The Shaukeens, shared that collaborating with the director of Amar Singh Chamkila’s films is always enjoyable. They also enjoyed their time working under the direction of the same director during the 2011 movie, Rockstar, which won awards. This was when he opened up about the memorable ‘massage scene’ in the film. Mishra then disclosed that he had suggested that scene to Imtiaz Ali around twenty years ago.

20 years ago, Piyush Mishra reminisced about a conversation he had. He was adapting the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet in old Delhi at that time, and during this process, he shared with someone about the ‘malish’ scene.

Previously this year, Mishra acted alongside Pankaj Tripathi in Main Atal Hoon. Contrastingly, Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on Ramayana, which is scheduled to debut over the Diwali 2025 holiday weekend.
