Plants Vs Zombies 3 pulled from soft launch as EA plan to overhaul the game

  • Plants Vs Zombies 3 has been pulled from soft launch
  • But fear not, EA says it’s only so the team can work on a major overhaul
  • Those with the game downloaded can enjoy it until November 15th

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the recent news about Plants vs Zombies 3 being pulled from soft launch has left me both intrigued and a tad disappointed. Having dabbled in the early versions of the game, I can attest to its charm and addictive gameplay. The announcement of an overhaul brings a glimmer of hope that the final product will be even more engaging and challenging.

According to Mobilegamer.biz, Electronic Arts (EA) has temporarily taken down Plants Vs Zombies 3 from both the App Store and Google Play. Fret not! The developers have clarified in a blog post that this isn’t a permanent goodbye. Instead, they are taking this step to make improvements on several game mechanics.

Starting today, PVZ 3 storefront availability has ended, meaning no more in-app purchases can be made. As of November 15th, the game servers will close, preventing access to the game regardless of whether it’s already downloaded or not. Essentially, you have one month left to enjoy the thrill of pea shooting and cabbage catapulting against zombie hordes wearing traffic cones on their heads.

If you’ve connected your Google Play, Apple ID, or EA Account, your coin balance will stay intact. However, any boosts and game progress may be reset upon the release of an updated version of Plants vs. Zombies 3 at some undetermined point in the future. The term ‘soon’ is used intentionally to keep details vague.

For Electronic Arts (EA), the development of Plants vs. Zombies 3 has been a project with some ups and downs over a period of time. The initial soft launch was in 2020, followed by another attempt in January. It seems that both the developers and EA believe there’s potential here, but they want to fine-tune the formula before officially releasing it to the public.

Earlier this year, I gave it a spin after its soft release, and I felt it was a well-made game overall. However, my main concern was the lack of difficulty. I sailed through most of the stages effortlessly, which ultimately led to me losing interest in continuing to play. It’s important to note that I can’t speak to the current state of Plants vs. Zombies 3 since they have made numerous updates since then.
