Metaphor: ReFantazio - How To Spot and Beat The Real Heismay

As a seasoned Metaphor: ReFantazio veteran with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that Heismay is one of the most captivating and challenging adversaries in the game. He’s not just another enemy to be defeated; he’s a puzzle to be solved, a dance to be mastered.

In the world of Metaphor: ReFantazio, Heismay stands out as one of the enigmatic figures. This character isn’t just someone to be won over as an ally, but rather a formidable foe that should be dealt with early on.

But contrary to the norm, Heismay isn’t your ordinary foe; instead, he uses duplicates of himself during conflicts. This article delves into identifying Heismay’s duplicate strategies and offers effective ways to outwit and overcome him in battle.

How To Spot the Real Heismay in Metaphor: ReFantazio

In the Old Castle Town’s Kidnapper mission (found within the Giant Sandworm’s Lair) is where you’ll encounter Heismay.

In a matchup with Heismay, his unique move involves generating three replicas of himself. These copies look exactly alike, but identifying the genuine Heismay can be done by finding the one casting a shadow.

In every round, concentrate on identifying the Heismays that cast a shadow below them, as genuine ones do not exhibit this trait.

Whenever he creates fresh clones, his role alters, making it crucial to regularly scrutinize their shadows for changes. Avoid attacking the replicas as they’ll squander your turn and grant additional Press Turn tokens to Heismay.

Once you spot the real Heismay, use strong single-target attacks to hit him directly.

It’s wiser to avoid simultaneous assaults on Heismay and his duplicates since attacking the original will cause all other replicas to disappear temporarily during that specific instance, thus reducing his ability to retaliate.

1) Leaving the clones out there gives Heismay additional chances to strike back at you, as he doesn’t have specific vulnerabilities or defenses that you could exploit. In terms of tactics, Heismay is versatile and can be countered effectively with a wide range of powerful abilities or Archetype techniques.

He does have a few cunning tactics up his sleeve, including Sand Throw, which reduces your hit and evasion rates. He also combines Dark Sword with Slash attacks to inflict physical damage. The fight also takes place in two phases.

Following our initial meeting, Heismay will flee, requiring you to explore the vicinity of his hideout (positioned close to the nesting site) prior to engaging with him once more.

Inspect his tent and the surroundings for hints that will initiate the next stage of the adventure. Once you’ve gathered sufficient clues, you can confront Heismay once more during the second round of battle.

When we move into the next stage, Heismay implements a ‘Forget’ status that disables my skill usage. To navigate around this, I recommend having a healer companion who carries Patra, or using a ‘Notebook of Recollection’ to clear any status afflictions.

Apart from applying extra penalties, such as reducing your team’s agility, his main strategy stays consistent: Recognize the genuine Heismay by his shadow and strike swiftly to eliminate the replicas.

Repeat the cycle until you finally overpower him.
