As a seasoned gamer and streetwear enthusiast who has been fortunate enough to traverse the globe for epic gaming conventions and exclusive sneaker drops, the latest collaboration between Rocky’s Matcha and Sacai has piqued my interest. Having attended numerous pop-ups and collaborative events, I can confidently say that this unique blend of tea, fashion, and artistry is a game-changer in the world of streetwear.
Ever since I, Rocky Xu, founded Rocky’s Matcha back in 2022, it’s been an incredible journey with my matcha brand crossing continents for pop-ups and teaming up with top streetwear labels like Bodega and Awake NY. Now, I’m thrilled to announce that we’re joining forces with the iconic Japanese fashion brand, Sacai!
In their newest partnership, graphic tees and hoodies showcase the Sacai x Rocky’s Matcha logo, blending the tea brand’s distinctive handwritten script with Sacai’s contemporary sans serif font. The unique style mirrors Rocky’s Matcha’s signature hand-drawn aesthetic, with one of the pieces featuring a worn-out look to give it a more intimate feel. Working alongside fragrance company retaW, Rocky’s Matcha is also set to release an auto-fragrance adorned with a matcha drawing by Ryuto Miyake.
In a private meeting, TopMob sat down with the company’s founder to brainstorm ideas about the brand that was showcased in our 34th magazine issue. Xu expressed their intention to innovate the way matcha is experienced, not only the drink itself, but also the brand surrounding it.
