Josh Brolin Joining Glen Powell as Villain in Edgar Wright’s ‘The Running Man’

As a seasoned gamer with years of virtual reality under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing about Josh Brolin joining the cast of “The Running Man”. Growing up in the 80s, I remember the original movie adaptation vividly, and to see it being reimagined with such an impressive lineup is nothing short of thrilling.

Actor Josh Brolin is close to finalizing a deal to co-star with Glen Powell in the upcoming movie version of Stephen King’s novel, “The Running Man,” which is being produced by Paramount Pictures.

Edgar Wright is directing the feature and co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall.

Katy O’Brian, the up-and-coming actress known for her role in “Love Lies Bleeding”, has been selected for a film project set to be filmed in London at the beginning of next year.

The story revolves around a man in dire straits, seeking funds for his ill child, who decides to participate in the highly-acclaimed TV program, “The Running Man.” In this gruesome spectacle, teams of lethal adversaries pursue contestants, with the objective being survival. The longer a contestant lasts, the greater their earnings. However, the show’s organizers and killers will soon discover that this desperate man will shatter all the rules and uncover the program’s sinister truths.

Published in 1982 under the pen name Richard Bachman, Stephen King’s novel “Running Man” is set in the year 2025, depicting a United States governed by a totalitarian regime that entertains its restless populace through brutal reality TV shows.

I’m captivated by the role Powell is portraying – a man in dire straits. It’s Brolin who takes center stage as the relentless mastermind behind the game show. And guess what? O’Brian will be joining the cast, playing one of the contestants on the show.

Paramount is releasing the film on Nov. 21, 2025.

Simon Kinberg, Nira Park and Wright are producing.
