Outlander Revealed A Surprisingly Spicy Scene In New Look At Season 7, And Here's What One Star Told Us About The Love Triangle

As a seasoned Outlander fan with over six years of watching this captivating time-traveling drama, I must say that the upcoming Season 7B is a much-anticipated event. The trailer for the second half of the season has certainly piqued my curiosity, especially the spicy scene featuring none other than William!

After well over a year since the midseason finale of Outlander Season 7 left Claire and Jamie back on Scottish soil, it’s finally time to dive back into their epic tale. But remember, even though we’re back in Scotland, the Frasers’ duties for the American Revolution don’t end here. A fresh glimpse at what’s coming in the second half of the season is offered through a new trailer, and it promises some intriguing developments for our beloved characters. Although the Frasers are front and center, an unexpected character, William, catches my eye in a rather steamy sneak peek – adding a dash of surprise to the storyline!

Actor Charles Vandervaart recently shared insights with TopMob regarding a love triangle involving his character before the upcoming season of Outlander, set to air in 2024. His remarks are particularly intriguing when considering the latest trailer, which you can watch above.

As a devoted fan who’s journeyed through six and a half seasons of Outlander, I’ve come to expect a dash of the unexpected from this series that’s skillfully portrayed Claire and Jamie’s love story, and even Bree and Roger’s romance, in vivid detail. However, what caught my attention during the latest trailer was a fleeting moment at 1 minute and 33 seconds – a quick glimpse of shirtless William locked in a passionate kiss with an unidentified woman. It’s quite unusual for this character to be involved in such intimate scenes!

In Season 7A, it was only Rachel, portrayed by Izzy Meikle-Small, who appeared to capture William’s romantic interest. Sadly for William, Rachel has developed a strong bond with Young Ian (John Bell), who openly welcomes her affections. Both men could face complications with Rachel due to her being a Quaker, as she might need to leave the community or form ties with a loyalist, if they wish to pursue a relationship with her.

During my chat with Charles Vandervaart before the premiere of Outlander‘s Season 7B, I was curious to know if he saw William’s relationship with Rachel and Ian as a genuine love triangle or if one was more solitary for his character. Vandervaart shared his insights on this topic:

It seems to me that William deeply wishes there’s a love triangle unfolding. However, I must clarify that I only speculate about his feelings since I don’t have concrete knowledge. In any case, I doubt his readiness to compete in such a relationship. Young Ian is quite impressive, and I believe William still has much personal growth ahead before he could be ready for a partnership like theirs. Perhaps it would be best for him to focus on self-improvement before committing to a romantic endeavor.

It appears that Young Ian and William hold mutual respect for each other, adding another layer of complexity to the situation, especially if we consider this a love triangle where William has a chance. However, the woman with him in the trailer is not clearly identified, but it’s uncertain whether she is Rachel based on her dark hair and the fact that she is only seen from behind.

Indeed, Rachel’s future remains uncertain as she attracted Arch Bug’s attention at the close of Season 7’s first half, making her a likely target for his retaliation against Ian. The upcoming episodes in Season 7 could certainly introduce unexpected developments, given that it is one of only two seasons left before Outlander concludes with its eighth season.

Although they completed filming Season 8 only last month, it’s not due to air anytime soon. In the meantime, get ready for the continuation of Outlander, specifically Season 7B, which will air on Friday, November 22 at 8 p.m. ET on Starz. Let’s see what awaits William in the midseason premiere.
