As an ardent follower of Indian cinema and a self-proclaimed connoisseur of epic tales, I find myself utterly thrilled by the grandeur that is Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana. The prospect of witnessing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as the enigmatic Ravan has my pulse racing!
As a die-hard fan, I’m absolutely thrilled to share that Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of the most captivating ventures unfolding in Bollywood right now. The epic tale features none other than Ranbir Kapoor embodying Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi gracefully portraying Goddess Sita. Recently, the legendary South Indian star Yash confirmed the buzz that he’ll be playing Ravan in this movie. He shared his enthusiasm for the character’s complexity, which ultimately led him to join this project. Yash also couldn’t help but express his excitement about the news and shower praise on Sai Pallavi, acknowledging her as a splendid fit for our silver screen.
Yash has experienced incredible acclaim and popularity through his movies KGF and its follow-up. These films garnered widespread success, and spectators were thrilled when they heard he would be included in the Ranbir Kapoor-led Ramayana, as previously mentioned. Despite not commenting on the matter earlier, he has now officially confirmed it to The Hollywood Reporter India and shared his enthusiasm about the project.
When queried about getting the part, the well-known performer mentioned that he was in the U.S. to handle VFX duties for another movie when he learned of it. While there, he encountered Namit Malhotra from DNEG and Prime Focus VFX companies, who informed him that their team had been working on Ramayana extensively. This revelation led Malhotra to ask if the actor was keen on portraying Ravana, which prompted a conversation with Nitesh Tiwari for more details.
The masterpiece actor shared his views on playing Ravan and admitted that he found the role fascinating and wouldn’t have chosen any other character to play. He said, “It’s a very fascinating character. I wouldn’t have done it for any other reason. In Ramayan, if you had asked me, ‘would you play any other character?’ Probably not. For me, Ravana is the most exciting character to play as an actor, so I really like the shades and the nuances of a particular character. There’s vast scope to present it in a very different way. As an actor, I am very excited. Hopefully, it’s going to be a very unique approach to it.”
When our South Indian actor came on board, Ranbir Kapoor had already been selected for the lead part. However, as a joint decision, Sai Pallavi was cast instead. We felt it was crucial to have actors from both northern and southern regions. The director of Dangal particularly insisted that the role be played by her.
Only Yash has publicly spoken about the issue through the media, while neither Nitesh Tiwari nor Ranbir and Sai have made any official statements regarding it. However, a sneak peek of their roles in the movie became popular online, generating excitement among fans who are now eagerly waiting for more details to be revealed.
