As a gamer with a keen eye for fashion, I must say that the revival of S/DOUBLE by Shawn Stussy has sent shockwaves through the surf-inspired streetwear community. Growing up in the ’90s and being a fan of Stüssy, this collection brings back nostalgic vibes while staying fresh and relevant for today’s scene.
Shawn Stussy declared the return of his beloved S/DOUBLE brand in July, marking it with a billboard near Globe’s headquarters in Melbourne, Australia. At long last, the much-anticipated relaunched label has unveiled its debut collection for the Fall/Winter 2024 season, following its hiatus.
In this new collection, S/DOUBLE pays homage to Stussy’s deep roots in surf culture by immersing itself fully in the styles and aesthetics of the surf world that Stussy has consistently explored through its product lines. The garments feature Shawn, Stussy’s signature, prominently displayed on some items while appearing more discreetly on other graphic t-shirts, soccer jerseys, and checkered button-down shirts throughout the collection.
The soccer uniform, adorned in tones of grey and black, displays “Shawn” embroidered on the front, while it subtly includes buttons on the chest area. Graphic tees exhibit the logo in larger font alongside S/DOUBLE branding. One t-shirt sports a surfing design at the back with the quote: “Roots since the beginning of this thing we share. Big love.” A series of trucker hats, all in muted shades, complete the assortment, each bearing S/DOUBLE or Shawn on the panel.
