'The Office' Receives New Mexican Adaptation

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in various digital worlds, I must confess that my real-life experiences often pale in comparison to the thrilling adventures I encounter in these virtual realms. However, the news of yet another adaptation of “The Office,” this time hailing from Mexico, has piqued my interest like never before.

The hit show “The Office” is set for another remake, with Ricky Gervais’ groundbreaking sitcom being transformed into a Mexican version titled “La Oficina”.

The Mexican adaptation of an undisclosed title is soon to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, with joint development between Amazon MGM Studios and Gary “Gaz” Alazraki’s production house, Máquina Vega. Notably, Alazraki has directed and produced successful series such as Nosotros los Nobles and Club de Cuervos. In this project, Alazraki will assume the roles of director and executive producer, with Marcos Bucay serving as the showrunner. This agreement ensures that the series, titled La Oficina, will be accessible exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in Latin America, Brazil, and Spain.

The storyline is set to focus on the Olimpo Soaps located within the Mexican state of Aguascalientes, run by Jerónimo Ponce III as the office manager. Alonso Aguilar, head of Mexico Originals at Amazon Studios, expressed his enthusiasm stating, “It’s thrilling to create our interpretation of one of the most popular comedies ever made. The unique and bizarre culture of Mexican office workers is one of the richest in the world, and with Marcos Bucay and Gaz Alazraki, two highly successful comedy writers in the country, we are confident that we have a unique product which will exceed all expectations and leave fans of previous versions astounded.

News about the Mexican remake of “The Office” surfaced following the debut of the Australian adaptation on Amazon Prime Video. Originally created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant in 2001, the show gained fame in the U.S., featuring stars like Steve Carell and John Krasinski.
