As a long-time Marvel fan and avid watcher of WandaVision, I can confidently say that Agatha All Along has been the most exhilarating series to speculate about in this year’s TV schedule. The loss of Patti LuPone’s character Lilia in Episode 7 left me with an ache that only grew stronger after learning more about her tragic backstory and her unique connection to Death.
Spoilers for anyone who isn’t yet caught up with Agatha All Along, the most enjoyable series to theorize about in the 2024 TV schedule thus far, so be warned!
It’s clear that Patti LuPone’s character, Lilia, leaving after “Death’s Hand in Mine” episode of Agatha All Along still leaves a lasting impact on me. The mystery surrounding her fate was deepened by discovering that her sudden outbursts during her adult life were connected to her youth spent in Italy. Furthermore, it was intriguing to learn that Lilia was the first witch (presumably after Agatha) who figured out Rio’s true identity – Death. However, there are still some aspects of Lilia’s character and storyline that remain unexplored in the episode.
As we approach the final two episodes of Agatha All Along‘s solo season, the tension has never been greater for the beleaguered coven. However, I’ve started to suspect that Lilia might have secretly cast a spell, one that could potentially bring back at least one character presumed dead: Alice, played by Ali Ahn, who was reduced to a dried-up shell in Episode 4. Let’s delve into this theory.
I Believe Lilia Made A Deal With Rio To Bring Alice Back
Similar to numerous enthusiasts of Agatha, I’ve found myself puzzled about why the series chose to eliminate Alice Wu so swiftly following her revelation and destruction of the family curse that significantly impacted her mother’s life and their bond. And much like others, I’ve been secretly wishing with all my heart that the characters who perished on the Witches’ Road hadn’t truly met their end there, thus leaving room for Alice to resurface in the world outside of the Road.
However, Episode 7 suggests that Lilia’s selfless actions might have been misunderstood if not for her sacrifice. This could imply that the assumption about her line of thinking was incorrect. Consequently, it made me question whether challenging the Salem Seven was not just one of her altruistic acts, but perhaps there were others, which was my first major criticism of this series so far.
Agatha All Along’s flashback to Billy clarified one of the puzzling questions from the first episode, yet it opened up an even more intriguing mystery.

One significant scene that the show Agatha All Along might have overlooked is the immediate aftermath when Rio reveals her true identity to Lilia, right after they both fell in the mud with Jen. While we see the death revelation, the following conversation between them seems to be missing. Given that this event transpired prior to their underground journey to reunite with the others, it’s reasonable to assume that we missed out on an engaging and non-fatal discussion.
In that discussion, it seems to me that Lilia managed to persuade Rio not only to save herself but also Jen. Furthermore, I suspect she found a means for the Original Green Witch to counteract Agatha’s power-draining ability, enabling Alice to rejoin the plot and offer her protection and pyrokinetic powers for any climactic battles that may arise. In simpler terms, it might be more accurate to say that Lilia negotiated a deal with Death rather than issuing demands.
Considering the constant jumps between different time periods, it’s evident that Lilia might not have been fully aware of her future, but it’s intriguing to speculate if she may have made a promise to Rio about the bodies of the Salem Seven and herself, since this seems like the only potential asset substantial enough to persuade Rio to agree.
The Alice Shot From Previous Trailers Would Finally Make Sense
Beyond the common belief that Alice is an intriguing character worthy of survival in the MCU, some fan theories suggest her death might not be final. This assumption arises from a scene shown in one (or possibly multiple) trailers for Agatha, where Alice seems to be lying on the studio floor from the Trial #2 event. Although she appears withered and drained, a hand with long black nails tenderly touches Alice’s face, suggesting potential life.
People doubting that Rio is a character who promotes death have been convinced that this scene indicates Alice will return before the end, but there isn’t much evidence provided as to why Rio would bring her back. This is particularly puzzling in an episode where it was clearly explained that Agatha would take the powers while Rio takes the bodies, which seems contrary to bringing someone like Alice back.
Since Episode 7 suggested a secret conversation between Lilia and Rio, I’m more certain that this discussion is the crucial piece of information needed to solidify my faith in Alice’s potential return. Additionally, it might also shed light on why Rio continued to be absent after Agatha rose from the mud and had her intense conversation/argument with Bily.
So, will Rio restore Alice as she was, the bristling yet loving character fans adored in her brief episodes? Not necessarily. Rio might just as easily revive Alice and Sharon to serve as mindless followers or potential threats, but I’m unsure of the purpose beyond simply accumulating more corpses.
Even though my previous statement was merely speculative, it’s not unreasonable for me to ponder if Sharon might miraculously revive. Given Lilia’s character, it seems plausible that she would strive to rescue both her fellow witch and the outsider who found themselves in an entirely alien predicament, ultimately leading to their untimely demise. Let’s hope justice prevails for Sharon!
Here’s hoping that this theory holds strong when the last couple of episodes of Agatha All Along premiere on Disney+ this coming Wednesday, October 30, at 9:00 p.m. ET. Fans deserve a satisfying resolution rather than unexpected twists as the show nears its conclusion.
