Matt Champion Follows Up "Faye" With "Hacker"

As a gamer with an ear for music and a soft spot for hip-hop, I’ve been keeping a keen eye on Matt Champion‘s latest releases. His recent single “Hacker” is yet another testament to his versatility as an artist, showcasing a more introspective side than the trap-tinged “Faye.” The production by Henry Kwapis is top-notch, creating a solid foundation for Matt’s emotive vocals.

Following the reveal of “Faye” last Friday, Matt Champion is releasing new music once more, this time on a weekday. The ex-member of BROCKHAMPTON demonstrates his continued focus on his upcoming LP by following up “Faye” with another track called “Hacker.

In simpler terms, Champion hinted at a new release this week with his post titled “Ten • Thirty”. As it turned out, this referred to the recently mentioned three-minute song. This track, produced by Henry Kwapis once again, represents a change in sound compared to last week’s “Faye”.

In a more thoughtful and reflective manner, “Champion” sings differently compared to the rhythmic “Faye”. Here, he’s accompanied by a robust bassline instead.

In the chorus, he croons, “There’s a feeling I get that you’re trying to charm me, indeed / I sense you’ve got designs on leading me astray, indeed,”. He continues, “It’s only fitting that you guide my fall / It suits you well, as you linger at your home”.

Champion is set to perform next month at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw.
