Aptos Foundation has teamed up with SK Telecom to bring Tether’s USDT stablecoin to T wallet.
The Aptos Foundation plans to incorporate the stablecoin from Tether, known as USDT, into SK Telecom’s digital wallet service named “T Wallet.” This move aims to broaden the reach of stablecoins among the massive user base of SK Telecom by offering them a familiar platform.
In a press release distributed last Friday and picked up by crypto.news, the organization announced that they are integrating their system with SK Telecom’s PASS app. This integration will allow users to effortlessly access USDT on the Aptos blockchain, effectively linking traditional financial structures with decentralized systems.
SK Telecom, South Korea’s largest telecommunications company, views this partnership as essential for making web3 more mainstream. According to Oh Sehyeon, vice president of SK Telecom’s web3 division, the company is aligned with prominent web3 players like Tether in their goal to increase access to digital assets and decentralized networks for a larger population, leveraging decades of telecommunications industry knowledge.

In mid-August, Tether announced it would now support Aptos Network. They emphasized that the strong community of developers was a significant reason behind this expansion. Moreover, they pointed out that the network’s growing number of deployed contracts demonstrated continuous and active development on the platform.
In addition to their usual development tasks, Tether explains that they chose to include support for Aptos due to its exceptionally low transaction fees. They find the network financially practical for a wider array of applications, including small transactions and large-scale business functions.
