As a dedicated follower of Rohit Shetty’s work, I eagerly await his next venture in the Golmaal franchise. The light-hearted comedy series has always been a refreshing palate cleanser after his intense action films like Singham. It’s like switching from a spicy biryani to a sweet kheer – both delicious but served at just the right time.
One of India’s most cherished comedy film series, Golmaal, significantly boosted Rohit Shetty’s reputation in Bollywood. The movie mogul recently announced that he plans to create the next Golmaal installment before delving into any more cop-themed projects. Furthermore, he mentioned that working on the Golmaal films serves as a refreshing ‘detox’ for him. Here’s what the successful director had to share.
During a private chat with TopMob Masterclass, Rohit Shetty was queried about the timing of his next movie in the beloved Golmaal series. In his reply, the director indicated that they would be commencing work on it shortly before moving forward with any additional cop films.
He said, “I think before any cop film for sure golmaal will be the next.” Rohit’s statement was met with a huge applause from the audience.

In a recent interview, the pair from the movie Singham Again, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, were asked if they ever struggle transitioning between genres in their work. Ajay, who starred in De De Pyaar De, shared that switching between different topics doesn’t pose any difficulties for him.
He explained, “We don’t jump from one world to another with scene changes; we move from one world to another between action and cut. So, on set, after a shot is cut, I can’t act as if I’m in a movie like ‘Singam’ and continue walking around like that. I need to be normal, or else it might drive you crazy.
In a similar vein, the director behind Bol Bachchan revealed his preference for creating a comedy movie like Golmaal following an intense action flick such as Singham. He mentioned that this shift in genre rejuvenates him, much like undergoing a ‘detox’, due to its lighter themes, and he finds joy in working on it.
Shetty expressed, “I eagerly anticipate being in that realm following Singham, similar to how there’s a big Singham after Singham. It’s a place that feels lighter, happier, and less burdened.
The Golmaal film series is a collection of four Indian comedies titled Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3, and Golmaal Again. These films were directed by Rohit Shetty. Notable actors like Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, and Tusshar Kapoor played prominent roles in these movies.
