Varun Dhawan opens up about being protective of daughter Lara: ‘If anyone caused harm to her, I’d kill them’

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for insights into celebrities’ personal and professional lives, I find myself deeply moved by Varun Dhawan’s heartfelt words about his newfound protective instinct as a father. Having been a parent myself, I can attest to the profound transformative power that comes with holding a child in your arms for the very first time.

Right now, Varun Dhawan is receiving accolades for his latest series “Citadel: Honey Bunny.” In his personal life, the actor is delighting in fatherhood to his newborn daughter Lara. Recently, Varun expressed his feelings about being a protective parent towards his little girl. He even admitted that he would do anything necessary, including taking extreme measures, to ensure her safety.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Varun Dhawan discussed his bond with the character Honey Bunny from the series Citadel, a role that includes him as a father to a little girl.

In response, the actor discussed the transformations in a person upon becoming a parent. He likened mothers to fierce ‘tigeresses’ and admitted to having a strong protective instinct towards his daughter. He expressed that if anyone were to harm her, he would be ready to take action, stating this quite literally and without jest. He made it clear that he felt equally protective of his sons but spoke particularly of his daughter in this context.

In the course of the interview, Varun Dhawan revealed that he empathized with his father’s protective nature towards him after experiencing parenthood himself. The actor remembered David Dhawan expressing concern about his son’s late return home frequently. Varun admitted that he didn’t comprehend his dad’s reasons for this worry until he became a parent himself.

Reflecting on his emotions, Varun expressed, “I could never comprehend it; I’d often wonder, ‘What’s his problem? What does he need from me? I’m not a kid, why does he insist on keeping me close?’ Now, having a child of my own, I finally grasp my father’s perspective.

On June 3rd, 2024, Varun Dhawan brought a new addition to his family – his daughter, Lara, whom he welcomed with Natasha Dalal.

It’s worth noting that in addition to his role in Citadel: Honey Bunny, Varun will be playing a father character to a young girl in an upcoming film titled Baby John. This action-packed thriller is helmed by director Kalees and produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, and Jyoti Deshpande. It’s slated for a theatrical debut on December 25, 2024.
