As a long-time fan of Cordae, I can’t help but feel like I’ve been on a rollercoaster ride with this man’s career. From his debut album “Yellow Album” to his sophomore effort “From A Bird’s Eye View”, he’s consistently shown growth and evolution as an artist. Now, with the upcoming release of “The Crossroads”, it seems like we’re in for another wild ride.
Cordae is getting ready to launch his album The Crossroads, which will be available in a week. Following the release of four previous singles, the rapper has now teamed up with Joey Bada$$ on “Syrup Sandwiches,” which appears to be the final single before the much-anticipated album finally drops.
Composed by Smoko Ono and Thelonius Martin, this latest song showcases Cordae pondering over his achievements and tenacity, alluding to his daughter, Thundercat, and Justin Timberlake in the verses.
He expresses in the opening verse that his team is not functioning harmoniously, much like Justin Timberlake might find himself when off-key. Meanwhile, he boasts about his exceptional skill, claiming he could even monetize a skating rink, should he choose to perform there. To obtain wealth first, and then connect with someone later, seems to be his priority, as he articulates in the second verse, with Bada$$ maintaining the intensity on their subsequent delivery.
Although the tracklist for Cordae’s eagerly anticipated third studio album has yet to be revealed, it is confirmed that the project will feature a total of 17 tracks. These include the summer collaborations “Saturday Mornings” with Lil Wayne and “Summer Drop” with Anderson .Paak, as well as last month’s release “Mad as F*ck” and the upcoming collaboration “Two Tens,” also featuring .Paak.
Listen to the tunes titled “Syrup Sandwiches” on Spotify and Apple Music right away, and don’t forget to check back next Friday when “The Crossroads” becomes available on your preferred streaming platforms!
