As a dedicated follower who grew up watching the golden era of Bollywood, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia reading about Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty’s reminiscences of their youth. Their bond is not just confined to the silver screen, but it seems like they’ve shared some real-life adventures that would make for an action-packed movie themselves!
Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty aren’t just long-time collaborators on set, they’re close friends off it as well. Recently, Devgn spoke candidly about his youthful disputes, while Shetty shared some intriguing stories. Moreover, Devgn referred to the current crop of actors as “boys,” in contrast to the veterans from yesteryears.
During a recent chat, Ranveer Allahabadia posed a question to Ajay Devgn, Rohit Shetty about whether they’d still find joy as they do now. In reply, the director hinted at their current fun being different than what it once was.
Ajay stated that modern society seems to be more focused on technology like gadgets and smartphones, potentially causing today’s youth to forgo authentic life experiences. He also mentioned that in comparison to earlier generations, the current one appears less masculine; instead, everyone seems to act like boys, not true men. For example, he noted that even in his own generation, figures like Jackie Shroff and Amitabh Bachchan were strong male role models.
In agreement with Ajay’s statement, Shetty provided instances such as Akshay Kumar supposedly beating ten individuals and Sunny Deol apparently removing a hand pump. He emphasized that these scenes appeared authentic, leading audiences to applaud due to the plausibility of their actions.
Regarding his viewpoint on modern actors being labeled as “boys,” the Drishyam actor expressed, “There’s been a shift in upbringing; having a muscular physique doesn’t make one a man. What’s lacking is a certain attitude and outlook on life.
In the very same discussion, Rohit made an analogy between the type of amusement folks used to enjoy back then and nowadays. He highlighted that in modern days, individuals on social media face getting “cancelled,” which was not a phenomenon in earlier times.
Reflecting on amusing incidents from the past, the director of Chennai Express shared an anecdote: “At times, I can’t disclose specifics, but we received a call saying Ajay had gone to confront someone and there was a vehicle chasing him in the bustling city of Mumbai, attempting to halt his pursuit.
Grinning subtly, Devgn steered clear of the topic, implying it wasn’t suitable for immediate discussion. Meanwhile, the director reminisced about their fights where soda bottles were employed as makeshift weapons, shaking them to cause an explosion. Similarly, Shetty disclosed they once used hockey sticks in their altercations.
Apart from agreeing, Ajay mentioned they’d store it in their vehicle. When inquired about his current combative nature, Ajay shared that he’s grown more tranquil like most people. He emphasized that he no longer engages in fights because he considers it a waste of time. Instead, he expresses empathy for the other person, fearing they would end up getting hit eventually.
Previously, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty have collaborated on numerous successful movies such as the Golmaal series, Sunday, All The Best, Bol Bachchan, and more. Their recent project was the fifth film in the Singham police universe, titled Singham Returns or Singham Again.
Under the leadership of Ajay Devgn, a high-octane action flick was brought to life. This star-studded production featured Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor in prominent roles. With clear echoes of the ancient Hindu epic, Ramayana, this movie graced the silver screen on the festive occasion of Diwali, specifically on November 1st.
Based on TopMob’s cinema earnings assessment, the movie “Singham Again” has earned close to Rs 180 crores so far, with its Saturday takings included. It’s anticipated that by the end of this weekend, it will surpass Rs 190 crores.
