The Penguin Will Appear in The Batman Part 2 & 3 Confirms Colin Farrell

The Penguin Will Appear in The Batman Part 2 & 3 Confirms Colin Farrell

As a seasoned film enthusiast with over three decades of cinematic adventures under my belt, I must say that Colin Farrell‘s portrayal of Oz Cobb in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe has been nothing short of captivating. The transformation of Cobb from a mere henchman to the ruler of Gotham City’s criminal underworld was as riveting as a good ol’ car chase scene (just like the one seen in The Batman).

Colin Farrell is nowhere near done playing Oz Cobb in Matt Reeve’s world of The Batman. After briefly appearing in The Batman, Cobb became the star of his own spin-off show, aptly titled The Penguin, which recently concluded on HBO. The series finale brought things to a shocking end, and established Cobb as the comic book villain fans know and love (minus his quirkier attributes). Fans are now desperately awaiting The Batman: Part II, which is rumored to take place shortly after The Penguin, but even that won’t be the end for Oz Cobb.

According to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Colin Farrell has shared some exciting news about the duration of Oz Cobbs’s appearance in future Batman films. Contrary to some assumptions, Oz may not be the main antagonist in The Batman: Part II, but rather could have a role that extends across multiple movies. Farrell mentioned, “I’ve signed up for three Batman films, but I didn’t know if I’d be in the second film,” indicating that we can expect to see Oz Cobbs on our screens for a longer time than initially thought. Although the specifics of his role in The Batman: Part II are yet to be disclosed, it’s confirmed that Oz will appear in the sequel, and the extent of his involvement remains uncertain. Farrell also hinted at the amount of screen time Cobbs will receive in the highly anticipated sequel.

In the last scene, there’s a hint of psychopathy that borders on delusion. When we move to the second film, how does this aspect develop?

In the sequel to “The Batman: Part II,” the character Cobb is likely to be significantly altered compared to his portrayal in the initial movie. As Tom Farrell explained during the interview, over the course of eight episodes, Cobb evolves from a mid-level crime boss under Falcone’s control, into the ruler of Gotham City’s criminal empire, outmaneuvering both the Falcones and the Maronis in the process. He stated:

What has been the development of his character throughout the limited series? By the finale of the eight episodes, it had solidified into a different form.

Will The Penguin Get a Second Season?

During interviews for the series The Penguin, Colin Farrell has repeatedly referred to it as a “Miniseries,” indicating it will only have one season. Initially, fans presumed this was the case due to Farrell’s complaints about wearing heavy prosthetics for an entire television season. However, given that Shogun recently reversed its classification and declared plans for two more seasons, the “Miniseries” label is no longer definitive.

Fervent viewers eagerly anticipate the return of Oz (with hopes for Sofia Falcone too) on our television screens once more, inspired by the incredible achievement of The Penguin. The series is tipped to be a force during the upcoming awards season next year. However, Season 2 of The Penguin has not yet been confirmed by HBO. Nevertheless, we won’t get another glimpse of Colin Farrell as Oz Cobbe on screen anytime soon, as The Batman: Part II is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026.
