As a die-hard fan of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, every update about the next installment feels like Christmas morning! Deepika Padukone joining the fray as Lady Singham is an absolute game-changer, and I can hardly contain my excitement.
In the recently released installment of the Cop Universe, various familiar and fresh faces were brought together. Deepika Padukone made her debut as Shakti Shetty, also known as Lady Singham. Now, director Rohit Shetty has provided an update on a solo film focusing on Deepika’s character. He mentioned that they still haven’t decided where the story could head based on their initial ideas.
Recently, in a heart-to-heart chat with News18 Showsha, the one and only Rohit Shetty opened up about why it took so long for a fierce female officer to step into his cinematic world. He confided that he had been patiently waiting for the perfect script and moment to introduce this character. Intriguingly, he admitted that the concept of a Cop Universe wasn’t even on his radar until 2018! During the filming of Akshay Kumar’s action-packed Sooryavanshi, the idea for a female cop to join the ranks struck me like a bolt of inspiration.
Regarding the solo movie starring Deepika Padukone, Rohit mentioned that as of now, there’s no script written for it. He further explained, “We do have an idea in our heads, but we’re still figuring out where to take it.” The filmmaker also noted that they anticipate it will require some time.
About the character Shakti Shetty, Rohit shared that he has an idea of her personality and the main plotline, but he isn’t aware of her full journey, as either a director or writer, yet.
He asserted that a film led by Lady Singham would surely be made, otherwise she wouldn’t have been introduced in the universe. Rohit mentioned that there was a reason behind the focus on her character in the latest movie Singham Again.
