As a seasoned gamer and die-hard fan of the Mission: Impossible series, I can hardly contain my excitement as Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures unveil the first trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning! Ever since I watched Ethan Hunt leap from one impossible situation to another in the first film, I’ve been hooked, and this latest installment promises more adrenaline-pumping action than ever before.
As a hardcore gamer, I’m pumped to share that I’ve just gotten my hands on the initial trailer for the upcoming Mission: Impossible 8! Tom Cruise himself has unveiled the title of this thrilling installment – Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Can’t wait to dive into this action-packed journey!
Initially, the forthcoming movie was planned to be simply the sequel, titled “Part Two,” following 2023’s “Dead Reckoning.” It was initially scheduled for a 2022 release. However, due to the pandemic and SAG-AFTRA actors strike, the launch date had to be pushed back. Earlier this Monday morning, Cruise shared on Instagram the title and poster of the film, accompanied by the caption, “Every choice leads to this.” The trailer offers a sneak peek into the thrilling underwater and aerial adventures that are in store for viewers, featuring Cruise diving underwater and exploring wreckages, as well as performing his signature stunts like flying and bailing out of a biplane. In addition, the teaser hints at Angela Bassett reprising her role as CIA director Erika Sloane, first introduced in “Fallout.
In the last movie, Tom Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt found himself in a precarious situation as he battled against a menacing artificial intelligence known as The Entity, which appeared to anticipate his every move. As it was discovered that The Entity was hidden on an old Russian submarine, Ethan is assigned the mission of finding it before anyone else does. In this film, Esai Morales reprises his role as Gabriel, a past adversary of Ethan, alongside Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mariela Garriga and Indira Varma. New members to the series include Hannah Waddingham, Janet McTeer, Holt McCallany, Katy O’Brian, Nick Offerman and Tramell Tillman. Christopher McQuarrie returns as director and co-writer with Bruce Geller and Erik Jendresen, with Cruise and McQuarrie serving as producers of the film.
Watch the trailer above. The Final Reckoning releases on May 23, 2025.
