As a longtime comic book enthusiast and Deadpool fanatic, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the latest development! The release of “Deadpool & Wolverine” on Disney+ is like a dream come true for us die-hard fans. It’
This year’s highest-earning live-action film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine has hit Disney+, making today an exciting day for fans! Whether you missed it in theaters or not, this is your chance to catch up on the movie with a Disney+ subscription. And if you still have that Wolverine popcorn bucket from before, Deadpool encourages you to put it to good use again!
Alongside the release of Deadpool & Wolverine was released an open-mouthed Wolverine popcorn bucket and a new promo for the Disney+ release of the film shared by Ryan Reynolds on Instagram, shows Deadpool and Blind Al sitting down to watch the movie and eating popcorn out of the bucket. Ryan Reynolds quips, “I hope you manage well with returning this one to storage,” humorously echoing the era when Disney Vault releases meant Disney films were temporarily unavailable after a period on home media.
Back in the days leading up to Disney purchasing Fox, it was almost amusing to think that fans were worried about Disney toning down Deadpool’s edge. During this timeframe between the acquisition and the announcement of Deadpool 3, there was much speculation as to whether or not Disney would allow Deadpool to remain true to his character.
In every instance when someone at Disney or Marvel was posed this query, they consistently maintained that Deadpool would continue to be an R-rated character. However, there were lingering doubts about whether the family-oriented Disney corporation could reconcile with Deadpool, particularly due to his language, which is a point of concern.

It’s clear now that what we previously thought wasn’t accurate. Disney not only allowed Deadpool to maintain his R-rated character, but they even produced a popcorn bucket with an open mouth, a nod to the character’s suggestive nature. After the release of the controversial Dune popcorn bucket, the reference was undeniable. Now, Disney is subtly reminding us all that such a product indeed existed.
Although it may seem unexpected to find Deadpool on Disney+ due to its mature content, it’s worth noting that Disney has a history of producing R-rated films under the Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures labels. So, while it might not be common, it’s not entirely unreasonable to have such content on a Disney streaming platform given that Mickey Mouse himself wouldn’t utter the phrases found in these more adult-oriented productions.
Indeed, it’s clear that Deadpool & Wolverine take center stage in this promo, indicating Disney’s strong commitment to Deadpool. Although a fourth Deadpool movie may not be in the cards, Ryan Reynolds’ tenure as Deadpool is far from over. Given Deadpool’s enduring popularity, this could just be the start of more adventures. And let’s not forget, we’re yet to discover why Thor was shedding tears!
